Rico pens- score, miss, score, miss so he should score the next one..
Listening to Wilder he seems to think we should have got another pen earlier in the game and we should have won 5-0

For goodness sake Doc we are NOT going down you heard it here 1st (I damn well hope that does not come back to haunt me)

Decent enough win, nice scoreline, though the BBC stats say York had the majority of possession.
I though Taylor was superb, the official MoTM Maloney had a dodgy start, three misplaced passes but turned things round, looks so good going forward. We looked a much better outfit when Toney came on, his goal was a real team effort, if you haven't seen it, watch it when you can, brilliantly worked, brilliantly finished. The fans were singing the O'Toole song but in truth he wasn't missed one bit, it took his replacement Hackett 4 minutes to score half the goals O'Toole has managed in 30 appearances. Duke had a quiet game but then when was called into action made some fine saves. Wilder wont, but I'd take the penalty duties off Richards, if the keeper goes the right way he's going to save it.
Next week is going to be a real test but we can travel in good heart.

29 goals from 13 to hit my 80 goal prediction...tough ask but doable with this team I reckon!
Doesn't surprise me that York had more of the ball, the way we are set up with 2 wingers kind of draws the opposition forward and we break so well.
I think we will win next week...as I said last week we've got to think about how we play against the hoof ball sides because it's those we undoubtedly struggle against. If we can crack that challenge we can make the play offs for sure.
Agreed Marvo...that 3rd goal was beautiful. I compared it to Playing FIFA!

I thought Taylor was superb today, MOTM for me. Holmes Byrom and the back 4 also v good. Hackett seems to have lost his sharpness but still a lot more effective than Otoole

Well done lads, hard work at times but still a good team performance. The energy and skill of the front three and the full backs was irresistible and the third goal was something straight out of the top draw !

Today was my first viewing of the reshaped side, I don't get to see the Cobblers anything like as much as I want to unfortunately.
The balance of the side everyone goes on about was there clear as day - two solid CB's, 2 FB's who love to get forward but don't shirk a tackle, a hard nut in the middle with someone a little more capable in the pass alongside pulling the strings, and the front 3 of Rico, Holmes and D'ath were very impressive. Wilder deserves a lot of credit for what he's stumbled across with this team.
Best way to describe the team is solid with a nice sprinkling of players who can make things happen. They also seem to want to work hard for each other, which is great to see. I really enjoyed the game, and never for one moment did I think we wouldn't win. 3rd goal was a thing of beauty :-)
I almost don't want us to make the playoffs, because with this group of players tied down for a couple of years we could well be looking at a league title next year, with the right depth added to the squad of course. Maybe i'm being too optimistic for a Cobblers fan....
As for York - they are in trouble. If their game plan for the rest of the season is to hoof the ball to Sinclair and hope he does something they are destined for the Conference. He is still utterly useless.
BTW - thought the Holmes song was great!

Another really enjoyable game again today, some of the football we play at times is top draw, with the third goal showing what a good team we have become. Particularly liked Wilders post match interview saying we will be going for it in every game, its going to be a great end to the season, play offs or not and am really enjoying watching us,long may it continue. A special word for Byrom, who was excellent today and is becoming better and better every time i see him, having Taylor along side him has improved his performances no end.

Poor tactics were employed I thought. Those York lads should have tried bicycle kicks for 'shoot the boot'.

He moved forward and early (what keeper doesn't?) but that was a great save on the pen. Very close to the bottom corner.

I know it doesn't matter because we got the goal and the win blah, blah....but I'm genuinely interested to know what the correct refereeing decision should have been for their keeper's deliberate handball outside the box before Hackett's goal? I'm not sure the ref even noticed it, but chose to take no action if he did. I see that in the Derby game, although Bent scored following a foul by the keeper on Ince, Derby were made to come back and take the penalty and the keeper was red-carded....which didn't feel right either.

I was also wondering whether the keeper could still have been show a red card for his handball despite the goal being scored. Not sure if this is permissible within the laws of the game?
That said, I'd rather be 1-0 up v 11 than 0-0 against 10.

Can a referee allow play to continue and then issue a red card after the ball has gone dead like they can when they play an advantage and then go back and issue a yellow?

Handball by the keeper outside the box is a red card.
I remember watching a Reserves game at when the Cobblers keeper slid in to grab the ball but his momentum took him out of his area. The Referee was almost apologetic when he sent him off.

Handball by the keeper outside the box is a red card.
That's not correct. The law does not say that handball outside the penalty area = a red card for the keeper. The law says that "denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)" Link at: http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/laws/football-11-11/law-12---fouls-and-misconduct.aspx#xdD2R59ERUmtzp1Z.99The question being asked is whether the York keeper could have been shown a red card despite Hackett scoring, and the goal allowed to stand with play resuming via a kick off.
