I was listening to Radio Northampton after 2:30 when they interviewed the groundsman. who said that this morning they forked the ground where it was frozen then filled the holes with boiling water.  This was only our second home game since 30th October.  That's a long time without much cash income....

Delighted the game was on, all's well that ends well and we got the points. Would have been very pissed off if they'd called it off though as I would already have been on the bus to Northampton by 1:45 having shelled out a fiver on a return ticket...hopefully they'll make their announcements sooner next time.

Professional performance against a poor Stockport side. Their fans were a credit to their club and deserve better.

Whatever happened to the brilliant idea from club - of buses to/from the provinces!?  Where coming from mate, I'm sure someone could give fellow fans a lift? I have room from Wootton Fields but I start work at 1pm!

f*** me thought i'd log on here and give my thoughts on this game, but now im just pissed off reading all the miserable posts from those with 'contacts' 'sources' and 'in the know' about how the game being on/off was all about money blah blah blah, have a day off guys.

Stockport were shocking, how their number 8 is a pro footballer i dont really know. We were relatively comfortable, Tozer looked very assured at the back.

Also how the 1st 'penalty' wasn't given i don't know! The second incident with McKay i actually thought Billy was pulling their fellas shirt more and was probably a foul their way!

As for the bellend that kicked the ball at Osman, letter of the law etc he should have been sent off.

Coming from Daventry...hopefully I'll have a car myself by the end of next year but in the mean time I'd definitely use a club-run bus if they put one on.

Agree entirely ! I've been a fierce critic of how things are going on and off the pitch and I'm far from convinced that there is going to be a radical turnaround. However, both the club and the team should be congratulaTED for doing a job yesterday and the positive outcome should be enjoyed.

If we could play Stockport every week we'd have no problems at all, my God they were abysmal! Anyway, we can only beat what's put in front of us and the performance was good enough, great to see a Messi-esque finish from Thornton and Jacobs' first league goal.

Ended up comfortable - but Stockport gave us more trouble than they should have. Thornton , i fear , will always be an enigma. So gifted, but often peripheral.

Really enjoyed yesterday's game. We badly needed a home game and against a poor side like Stockport (who were almost as bad as Bradford when they got the ball in the final third) for a bit of confidence and a much needed 3 points.

Looking at the fixtures, we'll have had 4 home games in an 80 day stretch (end of Sept to mid Dec) with 10 away games in all comps, yet we are "blessed" from Morecambe onwards with 5 home fixtures in the month, and 8 homes in the next 63 days post Morecambe.

This is vital for us as our home form (bar 25% of Chesterfield and 50% of the Hereford match) has been quite acceptable. We always see glimpses of how the team is capable of playing well at Sixfields, it's just putting that together, gaining confidence, taking it away from home, keeping 11 men on the pitch, scoring goals and not conceding! I should be Boss... Smiley

I, for one, am looking forward to getting some home games under our belt - it feels like we've been travelling for ages!
