Qatar? That's got to be a joke, right? I could understand the giving the 2018 World Cup to Russia and actually thought they had the strongest bid aside from ours (which was never going to win because of Panorama and the Sunday Times) but f***ing Qatar?!?! The place is about the size of Northern Ireland with a population about the size of Birmingham. They've got no facilities, no infrastructure, it's right on the border with Saudi Arabia and has very limited border restrictions (allowing a constant flow of Islamic fundamentalist nutcases into Qatar) and it's 50 degrees celcius in the summer. Still, nice big pay day for FIFA. What a joke.

Personally I hope we don't get it, mostly because MK Dongs owners have just taken out a £22 million loan to finish their stadium and this will put them further into the financial sh*t. I would love to see them playing non-league football in a 36,000 all seater in a few years time.
Is this actually true?

Also I believe that they are not guaranteed to get the Casino go ahead as there are 2 rival bids from the Xscape and the ice hockey arena area.

Qatar in 2022 eh ? The good news is that they play in claret -- the bad news is that can't score goals !

Players will die in Quater, I dont think anybody wants to see anything like that. Still, they'll get a nice marble headstone and be a martyr to the game,

I think it is now unlikely that I will ever go to a World Cup.
Russia has too big a distance to travel to various stadia and I don't reckon I could afford to go to Qatar.
Roll on Poland in 2012, that should be a laugh.
Got to try for another Euros.

I guess our problem is we ain't sheep, which is a good thing, i'd rather not have the WC if it means we have to be sheep.

Imo. The major benefit of not hosting is we get to play 10-12 internationals in qualifiers which will (may?) be more fun!! than a load of meaningless friendlies!
Also, having lived in Middle East for 6 months I won't go to Qatar for 6 days!
Know a couple of Ruskies though and they're in tourism, so maybe worth popping over there!

Wow. England cocking it up was probably to be expected. But Quatar? What the hell are they thinking?

At least we will be guaranteed a place in the World Cup if we hosted. The way we have played recently I never feel confident about England qualifying

If you'd have dressed up our exactly bid under any other countries' name it would have won by a country mile.

So out of a possible 22, England only received 2 votes? - One of the votes came from our very own Geoff Thompson, that one was obviously a given, but more surprisingly the only other vote was from a certain Issa Hayatou, the very man at the centre of the panorama investigation. The worlds gone mad!

I think it would be a huge loss.
I was too young in Euro 96 to go to a game but would relish the opportunity of a World Cup in England. Hell, we may even stand a chance of winning it if we play every game at Wembley!
We need to win the vote tomorrow but the only people we have to blame if we don't are our own crooked media. Any opportunity for them to ruin our chances at anything they'll do it. If anyone needs to look at themselves its the journalists in this country.
So you would rather our journalists didn't expose FIFA as the corrupt body they clearly are? Or maybe we could accept the truth that we wouldn't have won regardless.
