I thought it wasn't a bad performance, we weren't great but Luton were possibly the worst side I've seen at Sixfields this season. We had to win and we did which at then end of the day is all that mattered. My only comment of substance, I can't believe Portsmouth let Ricky Holmes go, he's reason enough to turn up on his own.

It's not often u can say one player makes a difference between winning and losing but for me Holmes is just that! For me we certainly wouldn't have lost vs Carlisle had he played.

Enjoyed the game today, good atmosphere ,in the west and thought we thoroughly deserved the victory. Luton were poor and offered very little going forward. Have to agree about Ricky,he really is something special, nothing fazes him and his belief in his own ability drives him forward when most other players would look to pass, it really is great to see him in a cobblers shirt knowing he's signed up. A great bit of business.

Cheers for posting that AJP. Its an interesting new scope on things. It also shows just how foolish Gaz 'n' Shamus look when we score!

No prob. To be fair to Dukey u can see why he thought their goal was going wide.

I could not believe that Doyle did not get sent off. I was told he was their midfield anchor - he has been out injured for 6 weeks but looked about 2 stone overweight.
Gray's performance turned when McFatty limped off - his replacement Lacey looked all at sea.

They were one of the poorest sides that have visited Sixfields this season. Their support was one of the quietest as well.

They were a hoof ball team and I would have been gutted not to have won that. Carlisle and their 200 fans made more noise than them too, makes our away support seem even better to be honest. Also shows the atmosphere can be decent at sixfields too.

Rather than mock, I will give you the credit for jinxing Gray into scoring the winner.
To be fair, CW said after the game how much Rico is missed and it's not really fair to be asking Gray to do a similar job. I think he could be useful in a 4-4-2 but was just being battered in the 4-2-3-1 until Toney came on. So "why Gray?" was not so much out of disrespect to him personally, more saying he's not the right player for that system. Same applies to O'Toole by the way, can't produce anything when he it all gets tight and there's no space.

Luton were awful. McNulty is big but very good. That lump for them in centre mid was big but really not very good - in fact, a real individual nightmare - Gutts must be really wondering if that's what's keeping him out of the team.

Well what a result, the game wasn't the greatest to watch but we outplayed Luton in every area of the pitch and deserved the 3pts.
On the subject of gray I think he's a pretty decent forward and has bags of pace he's still just a little raw and definitely can't play as a lone striker as he's not got the physical presence of Richards, however I'd quite like to see us try to sign him permanent as I believe him and Richards could very well be a decent partnership

Doyle? He has been out injured a while and Luton blame their poor form on him being out!

Was he 26? I thought he had a catastrophe of a game - really struggling to cover any ground and should have been sent off.

He might find it beneficial to get in the box periodically.

Yes. I actually thought he got booked earlier so was expecting the red to come out when he felled Gray! Earlier he really should have been booked. His performance was a bit like when we wheeled out a half fit Langmead.

Can someone exlplain why the geezer who gave away the penalty wasnt sent off? Although with our record against 10, it was probably a blessing!

I guess, if it's handball, that's not always an automatic yellow any more. If it was given for the challenge on Gray, there were other defenders around....? Didn't 'feel' like a penalty to me sittimg in line in the West 180s, but may be a great bit of refereeing when we see the highlights.
