I can't see the benefit of playing Derby and other Championship sides like Birmingham from a football perspective however they probably bring in some income due to large away supports.

We should be playing teams from the levels below us who be striving to beat us. Much better preparation then getting passed off the park by teams from a higher level

You've answered your own question!

In this scenario we're the smaller team 'striving to beat' the larger team, that's good for us.  We wont have that same intensity or test playing against a load of panel-beaters and insurance salesman at Burgess Hill.

Sheffield FC (the World's oldest club) July 31st anyone?
Didn't they play Brazil a couple of years back as some kind of centenery? Just us this time!

Play in Dronfield (nearer to Chesterfield). If can get some time off (difficult at time of year) really want to get up there...even for just a souvenir scarf!

For me, a home tie with Cheltenham town would do nicely.

Yes me too, I want to see us thrash THAT PRATS TEAM.

Derby already sold 500 for the pre-season game, and selling their remaining allocation of 400; surprising for a pre-season game?

Oh, we were playing today! A goalless draw at Burgess Hill in front of a crowd of 506.

The Chronic described our performance as "wasteful"...

Team: Smith; Lelan, Buchanan, Taylor, Diamond; McDonald, Adams, Byrom, Potter; Richards, Toney
Subs used: Warburton, Cresswell, Hackett, O'Toole, Hoskins, D'Ath, Clifton

Left my computer logged in at work and my mate who supports Derby has promised everyone cakes on Monday and handed in my resignation, I hope we beat the sheep shagging bastards.

It was an utter yawn-fest.   Nice little set up a la Sileby minus the nice pitch.  Only highlight was crazy Eastern European who kept asking every 5 minutes how long to Luton.
