I believe Wilder's main priority is a First choice Goalkeeper, centre forward and maybe a centre back. had we had a little more quality in them key areas my guess is that we would have made the play offs this season and maybe automatic even with the horrendous start we had.
We had a good start followed by a sh1t pre crimbo, agree with the rest though

I fully expect Collins to depart and be replaced with Jake Wright from Oxford
If this has any basis in fact it will be a serious disappointment/mistake IMO. Collins has arguably been our second best player this season and, despite what CW has said to the contrary, I'd argue that either Cresswell or Diamond should be stepping aside to accommodate him. He's much more mobile and comfortable on the ball than either of the other two, and we need the correct blend in there. I'm not sure about signing Gray. He's clearly not a replacement for Rico as a hold-up player, and he is also behind Toney in terms of overall goal threat. I suppose I have no problem in him being fourth choice striker - but if he's third or even second choice then we will have a problem. Having said that, the lad works extremely hard, has reasonable pace and he showed against Wimbledon that he is capable of hitting the net - an upgrade on Sinclair at the very least!

Agree with all of this.

Collins is the best centre half at the club, Wilder would be a fool not to offer a deal to him.

I don't agree with some things you say, but you're spot on with this.

Wilder made him his captain so I haven't got any concerns at this stage that he will be off because Wilder doesn't want him...
Diamond has also been fit for sometime yet Wilder didn't once drop Collins; not since the shambolic pre Christmas defensive days.
I'm hoping that it's just a case of them both agreeing to leave any contract discussions until after the season. It may be a case that Lee considers himself to be a league1 player, and might want to see what offers come his way before committing.
With regards to Byron and Taylor, they would both struggle at a higher level and would be stupid to turn down a decent offer here...

I suspect that's what he is holding out for. Don't forget he played at a higher level before he got himself into trouble...

Collins is my player of the season but like others I don't think he'll be with us in August, just hope I'm wrong. Taylor has done a job for us but you're quite right that he'd struggle at a higher level, he can't move the ball quick enough for me. Byrom and JJ anybody? My other priorities would be a goalkeeper if Jalal isn't considered good enough, a more attack minded central midfielder if JJ still doesn't fit, a left back, and the striker we should have signed at the time we signed Cresswell.

he would do a job as 4th choice behind rico, a n other, and toney.
I think Grey's ambitions are rather more than 4th choice striker in a league 2 club

A striker...big lump 2 central midfielders of high calibre to compete with Byron and Taylor and to replace Carter and Morris A young right back who can cover for Maloney but whom is ours...a loanee would only come to play. A top keeper to replace Duke
That's assuming we keep all the ones we want.
I would be tempted to try and keep Tozer and Newey if the budget allows, if not replace them with younger players who are less expensive.
Finally a kid winger, supersub type with lots of pace. Keep k-Mo, try and get shot of Hackett.
JJ...he's got until January for me. What I've seen in recent games has been far better than I've seen him previously. He's got it...and he's on a long deal. We need to make that one work.

They both must stay, Taylor would be very hard to replace, you need a man like him in midfield.

he can leave then his form / ability would suggest he might struggle with those ambitions.

I would 100% spend a good chunk of the budget on a decent Goal keeper and a centre forward. both areas this season has been a major problem to Wilder. I believe if we do manage to keep hold of Collins the defence will sort its self out, Cresswell, Diamond, Collins have a lot of quality. With a decent goal keeper behind them i believe we could become very hard to score against next season.

I said IF the budget allows...I know he's on silly money, it would have to be about half (literally) of his current contract! That said, I cannot see any other club paying him what he's currently on here hence he may be forced to accept reduced terms wherever he ends up. I like him...he's versatile. But I think to be fair he is probably best off elsewhere for his own good/career!
