Hallam please stop making up things to make yourself look like you are in the know. its not big and its not clever.  Kiss

Ok.... think you must be talking to Marquis maybe? Since I don't claim to be in the know at all.

Maybe you should go back to campaigning for Wilder to be sacked.  Roll Eyes

We took a look at a £50 United Counties league striker but were ultimately put off by the lack of his sell-on value?

Yes, exactly the same.

I like how people will say they like things in order to not seem like they are getting upset.

Oh look a winking smiley, you must be pretty laid back about the whole conversation and not be letting it get to you.

I think he's more likely to get sacked because a consortium wants to bring in their own manager than he is for the fans turning on him.

But we shall see eh...

If only it was the real world you'd know that you couldn't be further from the truth.
Your trolling is wasted in this direction.

I prefer the likes of Drilling and Marvo who wear their hearts on their sleeves. I do have a soft spot for Ever's as he is consistent and a nice old boy.

Anyway, we didn't sign anyone so that must be about the end of this thread.

At the end of last season and early doors this pre-season, I felt that we were looking good for this season. Very good. A few of my posts from around May time will talk about our plan B options looking ahead, and those could provide the critical difference between another up and down season and a successful one.

Just prior to the takeover announcement, Wilder was saying that 3 or 4 players were due to be announced within a week or so. There was talk of even a cash bid being rejected. If people can recall, he said that for 2 or 3 weeks running. They never happened, we then introduced a few lads on trial. The 'cheap' ones of those have been signed (McDonald, Corry) whilst the ones with some pedigree (the two anon's who played last week) have thus far been overlooked, despite having reasonable scoring records and attributes. We have now signed an 18 year old midfielder cum striker from Sheffield UTD, ironically a club where Wilder has friends and history. The day after Toney finally left.

The good news though is that Im sure we got a good deal for him because Sheffield UTD wouldn't have known the money 'we' made from the Toney sale so they wouldn't have put the price up for him.

Back to the plan B's. They are simply not good enough. A mixture of unproven or unwanted youngsters. I've seen enough football over the last 30 plus years to say that 1 of them may come good but the law of averages state that the others will disappear without trace. Some may argue (I reckon I know who  Grin) that they all may come good and ask me to provide evidence that they will not but when you are building a squad that can cope for 23 games (note Im factoring in the January window) you need to ensure that you are covered. Outside of the spine, we are very very weak. As Bungle says, take away just a few of them and the likes of Hoskins will be up top on his own and someone who was released by AFC Telford will be organising the defence. The bench will contain just kids from the youth team.

This is the weakest OVERALL squad I can recall for many a year, albeit it contains the BEST X1 we've had for a very long time. If we get lucky...very lucky...we could do well. But we are dependent on getting virtually no injuries. Wycombe managed it last time round and did well, I think 6 or 7 of their lads played in over 40 games. So it may well happen to us. So Im hopeful...but not optimistic.

Finally, I love it how Im getting a beating from a few muppets on here for being 'negative', last season I was getting the same beating for saying we'd win the league and score over 80 goals!  Grin

So on that basis Im saying 12th...

I was only a year out!  Grin
