He will be third choice so what quality do you expect? Especially as we play 1 up front. And hard work and lots of running is a welcome thing some games. Even if he is just brought on to harrass their defenders.

If he is deemed not good enough for an Accrington side tipped for relegation why would we even entertain him?

Honestly, I'd expect a different option to Toney. As proven last season, when Rico is injured we struggle with just one striker up top. Personally, I would have liked a bigger more commanding forward who would know how to bring other players into play.

Worked hard but never gonna get into double figures...

Would still prefer a targetman type, someone like Tom Elliot (still avalable I believe?), who may not score much but would be a better alternative if Rico gets injured and also a better foil for our wingers

... one who is willing to spend his time on the bench unless Rico gets injured/suspended. I think if Richards was out again for a period I would expect us to bring in a loan.

Accrignton didnt deem him good enough, neither did Portsmouth deem Holmes good enough. Assuming he is a cheap option then he should be fine.
You can't always have a squad full of 1st teamers. He is a different option to Toney.

Would be a Squad player at best. Conference is his level if he wishes to start games imo.  Grin

With a Young Goalkeeper signed, I would be looking at Ryan Clarke from Oxford.

We still need a left sided center half, if we could get Prosser then great.

Again would like to see Ryan Watson back at us.

Then a Striker either target man or Quick striker. But there will be lots of these floating around on trial over the coming weeks so if we get it right our team is complete.

Not entirely unrealistic - Tom Elliot as mentioned above would be my no. 1 target. Good age as well.

In a successful Cambridge side a goal every 3 games - respectable, but not as good as Rico, but better than Gray.

I'd take him as a cheap squad member, but that's it. I'd still like to see us bring in another top notch front player, but I don't think CW sees things as I do.

yep - there are always loads of decent target men, or quick strikers left over in pre-season which teams havent picked up, just because they arent in demand.

thats why we could snap up JJ Hooper so easily.

Ryan Clarke set to leave us this week - no hint on destination but a L2 club likely to be destination but not put anything on the table yet.

I'm sure Wilder will be interested.

Latest from C&E online from Wilder is that he is very very close to signing another keeper.

Would be happy with Clarke as number one with Smith providing decent competition. A big improvement from last season imo...

Yeah because Accrington and Pompey have the same aspirations for L2 right?
