If that's the case and they need to deal with idiots to make this happen, I'd say it's a done deal.

Not surprised, minute I read this immediately thought of another youngster Newcastle bought in recent times; Gael Bigirimana, was a highly rated young midfielder at Coventry City.  Went for 800k ish, and was playing in the Championship at the time.

Hopefully 300k, rising based on appearances, and perhaps sell-on %age.

I think we should sign Lucy Bronze. Talented and good for dressing room morale!

'Close on' not close.
And I have my doubts about the accuracy of this reporter given that he reckons Toney has 'three goals in 16 first-team appearances for the Cobblers'.

Anyway, if it is 300k then I agree, it's far too little and IMO this is the wrong time to sell.

Far too little!
Don't think Toney is so short...nevertheless, apart from his cameo at Dagenham, floundering and hitting the deck in the penalty area makes me think £300k might be a reasonable return!
Messi is quite little too isn't he?  Wink

It could be for £9m doesn't matter, if you think any of that cash will see its way to Wilder at the moment then you're a fool. Why would Cardoza do that? It'll go down under "running costs"

Yep.

Has anyone checked the Sixfields kitchen sink recently?

If it happens, it makes the idea of a sale to the 'consortium' more of a fiction than ever as Ivan is an asset that changes the value of the sale of the club - kind of like selling half your garden to a neighbour just before completing on a house sale and hoping the buyer doesn't mind.

Do you think Wilder has a small budget this year? Are you not happy with his signings? Considering Hackett and O'Toole are probably on a good chunk of money as well.

Or whatever Cardoza does will you find a way to complain? If we sell him for £9m I would think Wilder would be allowed to replace Toney, considering most signings in League 2 are free these days.

Your ability to turn anything into a negative against the chairman is bordering on pathetic.

If Toney is listed as an asset worth circa 1m, is then sold for only 300k before the potential sale?
Or sold for 300k with add ons to total the asset's 1m value for the purpose of the club's sale?

I would happily sell Toney for £300k if that money was invested correctly and well and we ended up getting a promotion from the reinforcements that the money was spent on. Even down here though, don't think £300k goes that far, and that's a very, very big if.

Leaving the hostility aside and focussing on the issue, I think it's likely that we have agreed no deals for players since the supposed 'heads of terms' agreement was signed with the supposed 'consortium' - seems likely we were committed to the Clarke deal long ago and were just waiting for his Oxford deal to expire. In that sense, we don't know if we have reason to complain about the playing budget: if we don't sign the CB, midfielder and forward CW says he needs, and we sell Ivan, then yes we'll have reason to complain. In the meantime, you're defending the unknown.

what are you on about? What's the point in getting excited over selling somebody for (for us) decent money if none gets ploughed back into the side? I know you'll see this as a dig, because that's what you do, buy you come across more and more as a member of cardozas family every day.  Where credit has been due you'll find every single one of the realists have praised him over time. You don't seem to be able to find fault, even now when it has become apparent that millions have vanished on his watch.
