Well getting the cobblers from the forth division up to the first devision in five years was some achevement,As Joe Mrecer said,''the mircale of 1966 was not England winning the world cup, it was Dave Bowen getting little Northampton to to the first division''. He knew Bowen well and he new he had verry little money to play with. I think that made him a maverick, if ever there was one.

Thought I was the only one who picked up on that! Mr Knill thinking JJ was 'a character' for having a guitar (most commonly played instrument on the planet?) and reading a book about one of the most commercially successful bands of the last 30 years drew a pretty clear line in the sand in terms of what's considered culturally 'alternative' among the football fraternity.

Says more about Alan Knill than football.

Getting the Cobblers, who had no money, from division four to division one,( no prem. then) was truly a Maverick feat.

Dave Bowen no maverick but was told when signing certain players whilst in the 3rd Div the private cheque book came out.
