Signed a 3 year deal. Played 38 games for bury last season, surprised he left!
Bury fans seem very complimentary of him on twitter. Tireless winger with league 1 quality is what they are saying. Can also play behind the striker. Deja vu?!

Yup, amazed he was let go/wanted to leave - a quality signing.
Funny that the first 2 signings are the JJOT and Hackett replacements... lets hope they move on.

Like I said on a previous thread.
Potter > Bodin Adams > Hackett
I would be happy with Potter and Adams starting games, but they have to get ahead of Holmes and D'Ath there is some tough competition this year for those lot.

You have to assume that we'll continue to favour the 4-2-3-1 (or whatever you want to call it). In which case, there are 4 players - D'ath, Potter, Holmes and Adams - in competition for 3 spots
Bring in 1 additional striker to provide competition for Rico/Toney (or his replacement) to give us the flexibility to go 4-4-2 and that will pretty much complete our attacking half of the squad. Although I imagine we may take a punt on another wildcard to boost the squad a little more (such as we did with D'Ath last season).
Need some competition for the defence (think we'll regret letting Collins go) and central midfield now, along with keepers of course.
Building a team of winners who have good promotion records and/or who could concievably play in League 1.

"sort the defence out out CW"
Releases Captain and player of the year runner up - replaces with two flair wingers. Bring on a 90 goal season!!
But in all seriousness, very impressive signing. Looking forward to how our 4 attacking midfielders work and combine with Rico.

Bury fans seem sad to see him go. Say he works tirelessly every game which will help our pressing game. Also been part of 3 promotion squads, 2 from league 1 to the championship which can only help us.

A decent signing, I think. Can I also add that in his picture on the BBC website he looks a bit like Pob.

A good signing on the face of it.
However, part of me worries that we're in danger of becoming the 'Arsenal of League Two': lots of skillful, lightweight 5ft midfielders with a lack of physical presence in the middle. Obviously we have Taylor and to a lesser extent Byrom who can sit and provide some muscle, but I wonder if we will need a bit more physical presence against the Stevenages of this world. Say what you will about the Toole, at least he's a bit of a unit and does his fair share of defensive work.

I understand what you're saying up to a point, however the spine of the team will possibly be Diamond, Cresswell, Byrom, Taylor & Richards. Not that bad, and with more signings still to come that should bolster us even further. We certainly should be good on the eye going forward. As for Stevenage, I don't think they will play the same way next season now Westley has gone & Teddy Sheringham has taken over - time will tell on that one.

Cambridge away last season was a classic brute v beauty contest and the brute won. I missed the home game against them but we lost that as well.
As Bungle rightly says, we must also be able to mix it.
Back to topic though, this lad should be a good signing. We've got 6 midfielders now (I'm excluding the two transfer listed) and between them they tick all of the boxes at this level. We perhaps need another brute though to complete the unit, and a 'development' winger. Take Taylor out of the equation (as things stand) and we go from very good to very light weight in one foul swoop!

You mean like Ricky Holmes, who I've seen shove three players off the ball whilst running rings around them. Or track back 45 yards...intercept the ball...run round two players and ping a 35 yard pass. Or D'arth the player who does not stop running, being a constant pest, bags goals of the season and gets so up oppositions fans noses, they start threads on him saying how annoying but effective he his. Those 5ft something players.....yeah I agree don't want thing remotely like that in our team.

I'm loving the rapier sharp sarcasm, but I'm afraid you've slightly - or should I say completely - missed my point. D'ath and Holmes, along with Rico, are quite obviously our most talented players - I don't think anyone would dispute that. My concern is with the balance of the team. Adams has been brought in on a three year contract, and unlike Potter looks like a pretty nailed on starter, which means that D'ath, Holmes and Adams will almost certainly make up the three in the 4-2-3-1. As Drilling says, if we lose Taylor to injury or suspension we will get bullied by teams at this level, no two ways about it. My Arsenal analogy has nothing to do with playing great football and everything to do with narrowly missing out on your goals due to a lack of steel and balance. The other king of sarcasm, Bingers, implies that finishing in the top four would be something to celebrate; that's all well and good but personally, I don't want to see us finishing fourth and then losing in the play-offs due to a lack of grit. Anyway, I like the direction that Wilder is going in and I like the football we played last season. I just hope he brings in some more warriors to compliment the artisans.

I'm going to chip into this debate. With that I pretty much agree with both sides.
The difference with set ups like Arsenal is that they only have forward thinking players. The holding midfielders aren't usually holding midfielders. Also the ones that play there are big so to speak (Coquelin and Ramsey e.g). Also there quality isn't in the art of defending.
However there has to be something said that Byrom is pretty much an all rounder, decent on ball going forward and defensively. I think that Byrom picked up 10/11 bookings last season shows he is quite effective at stopping the opposition. I mean this in the terms his bookings aren't for stupid tackles or kicking ball away usually when they are on the attack he brings them down. Same can be said for Taylor. However Taylor isn't an all rounder he is a defensive midfielder.
There is some merit that if Taylor was to be injured we may be light weight so to speak. However we have only signed 2 wingers at the moment. We have no goalkeeper or cover for many other positions. I think everyone in league 2 football wants a team with flair and size etc but it's a balance.
The spine of our team are all around 6ft. Diamond/Cresswell/ Byrom / Taylor / Richards.
You need this basic size just to be able to defend set plays effectively. We need to see the other signings that come in.

Just read on Twitter.
Alan Knill had Nicky Adams at Bury.
In that season he had the most assists in the league and got 12 goals playing as a left winger.
Hopefully he can replicate the same.

Well it's looking good so far, but can we we have some player's who can defend please? Then we may have a complete team.

All this chit chat and bollox.
If we hadn't had the Shyte defensive record we had, we'd be building a league one side now.
Get over yourselves. It's hardly rocket science...
