The other king of sarcasm, Bingers, implies that finishing in the top four would be something to celebrate;

Just to take my sarcastic hat (crown) off for the moment, I really do think that finishing in the top four would be something to celebrate.  We would have had to have had a pretty good season to manage that.  Definitely a better one than we have had for the last few years or even than for virtually all my Cobblers supporting life.

Yes, I'd take top four.  And to get back on thread, I hope Nicky Adams is just the player to help us do that.

All this chit chat and bollox.

If we hadn't had the Shyte defensive record we had, we'd be building a league one side now.

Get over yourselves. It's hardly rocket science...
Great post Sir spot on.

Tel/Defender - Interested to know what you would you do with the defence? Would a good GK be enough? As you say, it's pretty obvious from the stats this year that something needs to be fixed - but I'm struggling to come up with a solution for this as the back four and the DMs seem pretty well set. Was Collins the weak link? Is it just a case of adequate cover for injuries?

And just to add. During the jan-may period, not many teams got behind us on a regular basis either. During most of those games, we never overly looked like conceding goals, it seemed that on most occasions a team got a chance they scored from it.

I refer back to the stats from the different keepers we had. Duke let in a little over a goal a game whilst the other two were shipping 2 goals a game. I would also argue that when Rico was out we were unable to defend at the top of the pitch and lost possession far quicker.

My biggest concern with Wilder is that he doesn't seem to share the view that a top keeper should be the biggest priority, his comments today in the chron back that up. He says there's loads of good young keepers and it's worrying to think that he classed Archer as one of them.

Says he had interest from other L1 clubs too.

If you're being serious (which I doubt) didn't he also get the most assists though?

 I suppose it's hard to explain, except to say, that when the oposition were on the attack, our defenders didn't seem to know what to do or, that none of them excepted that it was up to them, it's not alway's the players fault, it can be that the defensive coaching is wrong, I will try to put that into perspective, When ever Ian  Atkins went to a club to get them out of trouble, he would not put a new defence in, he would coach them properly, each player knew what he was supposed to do and also to know what the others were to do. very often it worked.

To be fair, your never likely to concede many under a manager who plays 10 defenders!
