Third good signing of the summer, pleased with Wilder's work so far.

Hmmm. why is there no mention of his contract length?

I think it's fairly safe to assume he'd be signed to a three year deal.

I can remember John Buchanan hitting the crossbar from the edge of the centre circle in a home game against Hartlepool, their goalie was the late Des McPartland.  It was probably the hardest struck shot I have ever witnessed, the ball was still rising when it hit, and the bar vibrated for 30 seconds afterwards.

It looks like Horwood has been relegated to being cover for Buchanan.

Keeper & striker cover are now all that remains - but what I'm impressed with is that we are getting the squad together early which I think is pivitol to a good start - previous dismal seasons have seen players first meeting each other at 15.00 on the first Saturday of the season.
Keeper and striker yes, but we also need some CB cover and it needs to be somebody with some pace.

I am over the moon with the current signings, its obvious we need 2 Goalkeepers, Right Back Cover (Although Taylor did very well there), Center Half Cover of First Teamer, Center midfielder, striker a different option. Needed 5/6 more to come in with the squad we already have looks good.

I think our bench would get in a few teams.

So Far the team looks like:

(No one)

Maloney Cresswell Diamond Buchanan

Taylor Byrom

Adams Holmes D'Ath

Richards

Bench:
Horwood
Potter
Toney
Hackett
JJOT

Wilder said in the Cobblers Player interview yesterday that we're 'well down the line' with goalkeepers and a centre-half so wouldn't be amazed to see something else announced today.

Does anyone remember the first Dave Buchanan we signed-on loan-in 1982,who played a few games?  Apart from John Roberts, can't think off hand of any Cobblers players of the same name.

John Buchanan played for us in the early 70's - had helluva right foot on him and loved to mix it with the opposition.

Don't think there has been many. Mark Hughes comes to mind. Firstly young lad on loan from Tottenham I believe, center Mid. Second Mark Hughes from Everton to replace Luke Chambers. Still surprised this Mark Hughes never made it on to a higher level.

It's very pleasing to see that we have signed a defender who is solid to play at left back, At last something seems to being done so we will be able again to defend with passion, more welcomed here.

Everyone thinking he's a defensive LB, he is solid at the back but I've seen him play for Preston and he loves getting forward about as much as Horwood as well.

I remember when Bill Dogin swapped him for John Farrington, most fans including me were somewhat worried about it, but we needn't have been, John Farrington became a great servant for us.

Farrington was OK but was he any better than Graham Felton? and he certainly wasn't better than John Buchanan.

He was player of the season many times, more reliable the Graham felton, though I will agree felton was very good.
