Not the best of performances but good to see us be stubborn, dig in and grind out the result. Defence looking very solid. Morecambe, Burton and Hereford coming up- let's get at least two more wins out of those and get ourselves in the top half by January. It's definitely do-able. Come on Tayn! Smiley

Decent performance today, but I do worry that we may have used up our share of luck for the season in today's game...

Did anyone else go into Stevenage town centre today?  What a hellhole.  If I didn't know better I'd think that Hieronymus Bosch had done some moonlighting as a post-town planner in Hertfordshire.  One of the good things about following the Cobblers around the country is that you come to realise that as sorry a state as Northampton is in these days, it's a long way from being the worst place in the country!

Yes..complete s***hole...even coming out of the station had you walking into a dead end car park..or else walking around a carriage way. Old Town..garbage..met a few in Weatherspoons in 'New s***e Hole'..before going to Our Mutual Friend pub..not so great tbh!

Just watched the Football League show and they didn't show Davis's clearance. Must admit I thought it was in, but the photographer along the line said it was difficult to see with all the bodies in there and was 'inconclusive'. To be fair the lineslady was in exactly the right position and would have had a similar view. If it was 'inconclusive' for her then she couldn't give it. Also the Stevenage players didn't seem to protest that much.

They did show the red card tackle on JJ and at the time I thought it was harsh, but seeing it again onTV think it was a definite studs up and therefore a red.

Its about time some luck came our way though and a good three away points.

Tackle definitely worse than Osman's recent red card, but 2/3 years ago both would have been yellow.

Don't really agree about the tackle - thought it wasn't that bad at the time and JJ might have made the most of it, but looking at the video, it's late, vicious, and meant to do damage - a red in any era.

Watches it a couple of times now and I'll re-assess my view. It reminds me of Shawcross on Ramsay last season. Definitely worse than Osman's and lucky JJ didn't have his leg planted otherwise it'd be snapped in two.

Just been looking on their web site for ticket details. It says of the North Terrace, "Three quarters of the terrace is covered, whilst one third is open and without cover". Hmmm...wonder what the other two fifths are like?

Biggleswade was great.
Decent boozers and very friendly little town...bit like Olney imo.
As for the game.... well, we've had some cracking games this season and lost.

So, I don't give a flying bison if we were under the cosh playing 10 men. The defence and Dunny were solid and we kept a clean sheet.

I'll take the same for every game to the end of the season... 77 points is still achievable!

We've played very well in matches this season and ended up without 3 points, so to "scrape" the 3 points on our travels is probably something we've been waiting for, and go as far to say we've probably deserved a game like this over the course of our season.

Sometimes you need little things during matches to go your way in order to build, and continue a run. 2 homes to come over Xmas, let get behind the team for those matches and keep going in the right direction.

Stevenage were a real "alehouse" team and must have got a right b*llocking at half time to wind them up. Think about any of the red cards we have had this season and then tell me that wasn't a sending off ? Difficult to see if the ball was over the line ,but the lino was in a better position than anyone else and she didn't think it was in !
As for that ar*ehole Westley saying it was "a yard over the line" , he's waisted being Stevenage manager if he can see detail like that from the half way line !  I know that him and his staff were on the pitch 2 or 3 times jumping up & down complaining about decisions , couldn't have happened to a nicer team  Grin

We never looked like adding to our goal even when against 10 men infact we seem'd quite happy to sit on the 1 goal lead instead of going for the killer goal, how King missed cued his header i dont know, but a win is a win so i will take that

I agree we need to see the highlights, but I'm guessing she had no view at all, nor did the ref, and a load of us behind the goal had a better view than both of them with noone in the way. Actually don't care that much though - it all evens out over a season.

In the stand right behind the goal I reckon we had the best view...certainly better than the lineswoman who would have been a few yards up the touchline.
The picture on the Stevenage official site seems to show the ball well behind the line, as said above Davis left foot was on the line so his right is hooking the ball out from behind the line.
Hey ho, win some lose some! We cant argue that we didnt have the luck yesterday!

I looked in the paper and on the various websites, none of them say that Stevenage scored against us yesterday, so it couldn't have been over the line.... Tongue

Just another couple of points about Stevenage, and its pricing for games.
I took my 5 year old son to his first away game yesterday, and it cost a tenner for him to get in, a tenner too for my 9 year old and £18 for myself! So, £38 in total! I could have gone on the home terracing I suppose.....for a total of £22 for the three of us! At least NTFC are consistent with their pricing structure in offering visting fans the same concessionary pricing as home fans.

Also, they've bumped their prices up to £22 terracing and £30 seating for the visit of Newcastle in the FA Cup..... value for money or what??!! lol

I think that's the point though - she had no chance of seeing it through the crowd and round Davis and the ref was in the right position towards the edge of the box, which meant he couldn't see either - so all either of them could say was they weren't sure it was in, which means it wasn't a goal.

There were several hundred people who had a better view than either of them, but did anyone else notice how this weird, impenetrable but strangely beautiful claret mist came down just as Davis went to clear...and then was gone again almost as quickly? So, even though I was sitting just a few feet away, a few rows back and right behind the goal, I have no idea whether it went in...and I spent the next few minutes trying to clear a claret haze from my glasses. Sorry about that Stevenage fans, like to help but...and for those of you with a spiritual disposition, and who hurled abuse and who knows what else at Johnson when your idiot animal sub tried to end his career, you might want to go and look up what karma means?

I think the pic on the Stevenage official site match report is just as inconclusive. The ball is dead on the line - on the angle - with Davis about to connect with his foot to clear.

I don't think the whole ball went over the line, which unfortunately for them are the rules. And when it's happening in double quick time, the lines(wo)man has to be 100% about it.

Agree that the pricing for Juniors was way too expensive. I could have sat in the home seats for free via a contact but wanted to sit with friends, until I saw the price!

In terms of their Cup tie. We'll you wouldn't catch us bumping up the prices if we drew one of the big teams at home would you. Was it £35 for the game against Man Utd?

The picture on the Stevenage site looks inconclusive, certainly not as far in as our 'goal' that wasn't given up at Crewe last season.

I thought it was a Football League rule that you couldn't charge away fans more than cheapest standard home fans unless its a special deal. Thats why we have to be careful about matchday prices for our home end
