The club should do one of these for next Saturdays game for the same reasons that Leicester have done it for today. Promote it properly in local press starting Tuesday - I reckon we could get a crowd of 5 - 6000 with it.

Honestly think if they did all tickets at £5 next week it would still only see an extra 500, tops.

Not if its promoted properly it wouldn't. And as a 1 off its got novelty value. If it was every week, I would agree with you!

Most of our 4000 odd though are already season ticket holders or freebies in the East Stand. So it wouldn't have a detrimental effect with revenue, and might just get a few more people in to watch a game.

Not saying it isn't worth a try....just don't think it will work.

Haven't the club said in the past any offers or deals they do never work out making a big enough difference, hence why we haven't seen any this year?

To be fair, I don't think it would make any money. But it wouldn't lose any. And most importantly, it might get a big crowd in for a change, a bit of atmosphere etc. Things are very downbeat at the moment, a decent crowd and a win might help to change that a little.

It would be nice to see Sixfields full-ish....like you say it wouldn't really earn any money particularly, we have what around 3,000 season ticket holders? So i guess the clubs view would be the extra 800 or so that usually pay full price would also pay the cheap ticket deal and then it would probably only bring in an additional 500 extra fans so therefore we may lose money?!

People thinking cut price tickets are going to get more crowds are missing the point.
You wouldn't spend two hours watching a rubbish film even it was free, so why would anyone watch what they perceive is rubbish football?
You've just got to improve the product.
In the new year there will be tickets over £100 to watch an Arsenal game with no hospitality. They are top of the league and their home games always sell out. They have never been cut-price and are reaping the rewards.
I know we're not Arsenal but the principle remains - offer a quality product and you can charge decent prices without ripping anyone off.

The Saturday before Christmas is always pooly attended, but I have some sympathy with Alton's view that while we're playing such poor football (yes, we are, it's awful stuff) even £5 a ticket probably would not attract enough extra people to make it worthwhile.

Thank you, empathy it should be, because sympathy would require Alton to have said something which elicited from me a feeling of sorrow rather than agreement.

I thought you were refering to the helpline website for those with a stutter! Grin

A little more seriously..Leicester have done the reduced prices thing loads over the years, namely when they play an 'unattractive' team ala Scunny and Donny. They do have a 32,000 stadium to fill though and a more 'flexible' fanbase..ie more armchair fans around the county and beyond willing to take up the offer - and possibly return! Not sure if we have such floaters, anymore certainly. Not pouring cold water on the idea, just not sure it will reap any reward...more cackling 7 year olds in the East Stand?
Oxford have reduced prices to 11 quid (youngsters - free) for their relishing clash at home to Macclesfield on Dec 28th. Sure their season ticket holders will be pleased!

Even at the lowest our crowds are still comfortably above most of the rubbish in this division.

Both Leicester and Oxford can make that claim. Getting a higher crowd than Macc, Stevenage et-al isn't really the point..filling the stadium and creating a potential is!

I thought we had a guy tapping up local firms to buy tickets? We don't have the capacity to give away tickets at silly prices so the best way to go about it would be to invite local buisneses to buy 5 or more tickets to reward thier staff, suppliers or existing and future customers for say £20 per ticket which gives the holder a free drink on arrival and a hot drink at H/T and access to a cash bar, participating firms could also have an acknowlement in the matchday programme, which would give further encouragement, with 10,000 plus  local buisneses, Theres a hell of tickets to sell.

That's an interesting point.
Where I work we've had fleeting contact with Wycombe, Oxford and Reading clubs. Since then I've had regular obviously personal emails and occasional phone calls offering deals, and sometimes free tickets and hospitality to games.
The only thing I get from NTFC is emails from the club that start with 'Hi Mr,'

I hope good ideas such as these have also been sent directly to club? - especially to give them time to organise this?  But I'm sure on this they have done the sums.....

The club employ Joss Sheldon to attract 'group sales' from local schools etc which I believe from Chron has been successful initiative as done at ohter clubs - and they are the club fans of the future - so any ideas along these lines (group deas etc) I suggest are sent to him by email or phone (see NTFC official website).

Yeah, WWWWWW please !!! If we get wins floating folk will take notice. I do think some of this seasons performances are better than last years when it was 'hoof' up to Bayo - which was getting boring but seemed to get more wins. We are now ahead of last year I believe and with points so close, we're nearer to play offs.
