Another topic bump... next two Saturdays lined up;

  • Saturday 29th July - Open Training Session* at Upton, 10.15am meet.
  • Saturday 5th August - Fixture away to Wolves (which fits in on the route to Shrewsbury for the season opener)

Not too late to get involved, would be good to see some new faces... even if you are not sure about committing to playing regularly... come down for a kick-around!

*The term "Training Session" used in the loosest possible terms! Wink

Good to hear!  It is the grass pitches next to the Elgar Centre, NN5 4EN.

Claret Shoemakers IFC Update: 9th September 2017

We kicked off 2017/18 with a 6-1 loss to Abbey United (Cambridge) last week (not as bad as it sounds... honest).

Today (9th Sep) we play a friendly against a local side; Sixfields Rangers, 10.30ko at Pattishall.

If any Cobblers fans want to know more about us, you'd be more than welcome to pop down!

Thread renamed...  Wink

Cheers for that!  Smiley

Just a quick update since the last post, with some more fixtures played, and some potential fixtures pencilled in.

16 Sep: We traveled to Watford (en route to Southend away).  Tough encounter which ended in a 8-1 loss, having been 1-1 at half time.
23 Sep: We hosted Coventry and fared much better, drawing 1-1, and could well have nicked it in the dying minutes.

30 Sep: We are potentially playing Rotherham away, if we can get a squad together that is!(if interested, please get in touch)
7 Oct: MK Dons (away)
14 Oct: AFC Wimbledon (home)

A quick update, as it's been a month since the my last post;

7th Oct: narrow 2-1 loss away to MK Dons
14th Oct: a resounding 4-2 victory in a friendly, against local side Sixfields Rangers

Most pleasing is the recent introduction of new players, meaning we regularly have a good squad to pick from, and bodes well for playing more fixtures as the season goes on.

That said, if you want to put on your boots for us (particularly if you travel away) then please do get in contact!

28th Oct: Luton (a)
4th Nov: Coventry (a)
11th Nov: Oxford (a)
18th Nov: Stevenage (h)
25th Nov: Bury B (h)

If 2018 is your year to get fit or playing football, feel free to join the Shoemakers!

Open training (well a kickabout anyway) this Saturday (6th Jan), likely 10am at Upton.

All welcome, regardless of ability!

#SixPointSaturday
Sorry to those in the dark ages, and don't do hashtags  Grin But we've had them back to back!

Travelling to Bradford last week, to play a charity fixture, coming away 3-1 winners.

Then despite the rain 'waterlogging' our booked pitch and a late late venue change, we got a game on against MK Dons, another win, 5-4.

Likely training at Upton this coming Saturday (27th Jan)

A mixed February for the Shoemakers;

03-Feb vs MK Dons (h) 2-0 loss..... albeit just a friendly as already played home and away in the league
10-Feb vs AFC Wimbledon (a) 2-1 win.... terrific result in awfully boggy conditions
24-Feb vs Wolves (h) 3-0 loss..... came up against a good side, failed to take the few chances we had

As always we welcome anyone interested in joining us, particularly fans who go to away games

3-Mar vs Preston (a) before going on to Blackpool
10-Mar < < TRAINING AT UPTON > >
17-Mar vs Rotherham (h) TBC
24-Mar vs Bury (a)

We take on Walsall fans Saturday morning. Currently a threadbare squad of 11 so wouldn't mind an extra player (or two).

Got your ticket to the 3pm game already? Perhaps interested in a game for us beforehand? Please get in touch!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[edit] Here's a Shoemakers update whilst I am here....

17-Mar vs Abbey United IFC (a) 3-3 draw..... on the face of it, a decent result away to Cambridge, but we lost a 3-0 lead. Snowy conditions not ideal as we faded 2nd half.
2-Apr vs Peterborough United (a) 8-2 loss..... sloppy game, highlighted lack of fitness, plus we traveled without many regulars
7-Apr vs Sixfields Rangers (h) 5-1 loss..... first game on our new home pitch (Kislingbury), great facility, punished for a slow opening 20 minutes, matched them for the remainder
21-Apr vs Intrasquad match (h) 2-2 draw..... no opponents available, so 21 of our squad played out a match in roaring sunshine

As always, keen to hear from Cobblers fans who might be getting involved with us, particularly keen to hear from fans who get along to away games!

If you are ever, ever desperate, and I am around, I'll help make up the subs bench next season.

Sadly, I am unavailable this season (and much too old, anyway!)

Top man for getting this sorted!!!!!!

I’m up for a game. As long as I don’t have to head the ball, tackle or do any running. I’m thinking a sort of Matt Taylor role?

Monday 4th June - 7pm KO
Claret Shoemakers IFC vs Claret Shoemakers IFC

Tomorrow we grace Sixfields (or should that be the PTS Academy Stadium).

Spectators most welcome!  Always an interesting clash with this intrasquad match. Perfect opportunity to see what we are about.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apr/May Update

28-Apr vs Walsall (a) 1-0 loss..... no idea how we lost this one. A Saturday to forget, for us and the 3pm game.
5-May vs Sixfields Rangers (h)..... ridiculously hot morning, both sides missing a hatful of chances, decent contest.
12-May vs Walsall (h) 6-0 win..... got our revenge, slick and dominating performance, one of the best of our season.
19-May vs Badgers SFC (a) 7-2 loss..... Stevenage away, always a tricky fixture, silly errors from the entire squad cost us.

Well 2018/19 soon came around!  The Claret Shoemakers IFC are back up and running, and ready for another IFA campaign, albeit in League 2!

Like the actual Cobblers side, we look forward to reacquainting ourselves with the likes of Stevenage, Cambridge, Port Vale et al.

For those unfamiliar, we are the NTFC fans team, playing on Saturday mornings, against fellow fans teams ahead of the main teams 3pm game.

After good recruitment last season, we are not actively looking for new players right now... but if you are a Cobblers fan, aged 16+, who goes to away games and may wish to get involved in the future, feel free to get in touch!
