Not sure how anyone who classes "The Cobblers" as their team can ever be called a part timer no matter how much they go or don't

I heard a rumour, from someone on a Sixfields coach, that the Trust Travel coach broke down on the way back. Well this is news to me and the 80 odd people on board, so I would like to state that the Trust coach arrived back ,in one piece, at just before 4.00, a few minutes after the Sixfields ones.
I think it stopped at some traffic lights but started moving as soon as they changed to green !!

The Sixfields travel coach I was on (5) arrived back at Sixfields at 3.15! I was in bed at 4 having dropped my mate off in Barton Seagrave before going home to Irthlingborough. I think we were first back.  Grin

We drove but still didn't arrive back until around 4am due to that ludicrous diversion.

80? Surely that must have been more overloaded than a Mediterranean refugee boat!

They might have been talking about Norms bus, Handbrake wouldn`t release and we were stuck for a while until one of the drivers checked the doors (handbrake won`t release unless doors 100% shut as a safety measure)

I drove and was tucked up in bed in wellingborough at 2:05am, managing to get a parking spot 30secs from the ground clearly had its advantages

That's pretty good going Cool - obviously the journey was free from mishaps. You sure it was 2.05am sounds to good to be true.

Just watched the goals back. The defending for the two free kicks is so abysmal it's almost non-existent. No idea what McDonald was doing for either. Nobody at all bothered to challenge the runners. For the first we had 3 players doing little guarding players who may have but didn't run, with hardly anyone there in the area the ball was most likely to go. For the second only Taylor was marking 2 of the 3 runners (why he didn't communicate that earlier I don't know), but then even though he had two players, he managed to let both get in yards of space goal side of him, whilst McDonald had a lay down. Then finally he asks where everyone was.

We spend a lot of time working on attacking free kicks and it shows. I think it also shows we don't spend enough time on how to defend them. Neither of the Newcastle free kicks are creative, they just put the ball in to the obvious area and are allowed free reign.

The thing is the higher up the tables you go the more you will be punished for just a small mistake. A team from a lower league may have 6 chances and a team from a higher league 1, but they will finish the 1 chance, hence the higher wages and league.

Oh and I forgot the player who decided not to bother defending the second free kick at all, in favour of standing motionless with his hand in the air while his player scores Newcastle's 4th. Was it Buchanan?

It's nothing to do with how great Premier League multi million pound players are, it's grass roots level stay goal side of your player and at least get a good challenge in for the header.

I thought 'defender' was surprisingly relaxed on the subject, so I've taken over Alan Hanson stylee. I also seem to remember Knill saying they hadn't watched it back. I hope they saw it first time because there's a lot wrong. Unbelievable, Jeff. Rant over.

just a small mistake...  ...they will finish the 1

Is that defending for the set pieces a small mistake then? I'll give you that for the third goal.
I could finish chances against non-existent defending, and I'm not worth a place on the bench of a pub team that's just had a lock-in!

Decent effort from the lads on the whole, but we're going nowhere in League 2 if we can't defend set pieces.

We can dress it up as much as you like but those first 10 mins lost us the game. Even the Newcastle fans thought it was poor defending and it is impossible to disagree with that. We should have done better.
