Diamonds used to get 3000 gates....where did all those people go?

 The Saints,
Most of the people I know who went to the Diamonds now go to Franklins Gardens, they are the original glory hunters who only follow a winning team. There are a few who follow AFC R & D and you have to respect them.

Sort of proves my point really, be successful and you'll draw people in! If we are playing in League 2 in front of 4000 we have 2500 "hard core" fans, get up to the Championship and play in front of 12000 we would still have only 2500 "hard core" fans, but a lot more casual fans/glory hunters!!

If we got to the L1 or even the Championship and stayed a few years then our hard core might possibly increase based on new fans coming in and not knowing about L2. Depends what you mean by hard core as I know 3 long term supporters who very rarely go to any away games.

Hard core as in season ticket holders and those who get to most home games, the hard core away fans are the ultra hard core!!

Luton has suffered badly at the hands of mkdongs, Bedford and Leighton Buzzard were Luton catchment areas for decades but having done lots of work in these areas it's apparent Mk now rule the roost.
I've been told In Bedford that they now go to the stadmk as its much nicer than Kenilworth rd!
Also both these areas have an Mk postcode so does this make them there local club?

Not sure Luton's somewhat impressive gates support your point but hey if I was west of the town and no massive alliance unfortunately I think MK would probably win.

If you were a parent you'd probably take your kid to MK, more family-friendly and the stadium is light years away from Luton's.

I think it's fair to say that in 20-30 years time Franchise will be a Prem/Championship club with strong "home-fans" gates of at least 15,000 due to the large number of young fans they have invested time in attracting.

They're absolutely wiping the floor with NTFC and to a lesser extent Luton in terms of attracting young fans in a very populous and generally quite affluent catchment area.

As for where NTFC will be, I fear that our golden opportunity for enabling development has been squandered by the current chairman, and unless this supposed consortium turn up and want to plough £ tens of millions in to the club we'll still be mooching about in the bottom division or conference.

Whatever your point of view of the current situation we will never progress under the present owners.  That much must be clear to all.  But a starting point has to be having our own training ground the lack of which is ridiculous for a professional football club.

You really need to stop talking on behalf of everyone and just stick to your own opinion.

Everyone wants progress, so do fans at other clubs, we aren't entitled to anything and if we do get an owner in who is willing to spend even more than our current one did to try and get us up the leagues then we will have done very very well.

I'm sure there are plenty of professional football clubs which don't have their own training ground.

Is there an expectation that the club should be given a training ground or buy some land itself?

Given long lease on stadium for £1, given large parcel of land to develop, given large loan at preferential rates of interest.

Yawn. Given for free or at a peppercorn rent or buy at commercial land values.
If I want something in life I have never had a sense of entitlement. I work, save, invest etc and feel good when I get what I want.
The opportunity presented albeit after protracted negotiations is/was massive. That's what makes the ongoing farce all the more galling.

Interesting how HallamCobbler and Everbrite both have the same problem with "your" and "you're". Just a coincidence I guess....
