And these are refugees.
So in your mind any person attempting to gain entry into Europe (or UK) from the Near East is a refugee? Bit naive dont you think.

I go to football matches partly as escapism, there are different channels (which could arguably be more effective) to express your thoughts about this rather than at a football ground.
In fact, all banners should be banned except England flags with 'Insert locality" Cobbler written in the red stripe

Maybe DC could offer to put some up in his big new house seeing as it's empty at the moment and allegedly paid for with public money

I've tried to stay away from this thread because this forum is supposed to be about the cobblers, but having read the posts to date i feel the need to reply to give other posters a reality check from the other side of the coin. Firstly the images in the press of the young lad were desperately distressing whereever or whoever you may be. Where his parents came from i don't know, but to call on the uk to open it's borders is not the answer. We do not have the infrastructure or the services available to cope with a major influx of refugees. How many on here have kids who cannot get social housing, that is not an issue just for northants, its nationwide. How many have to wait months for an NHS appointment and how many on here have elderly relatives who struggle to get the care they need ? What's the answer, i don't know, but maybe helping out at the route cause might be a start. I'm expecting a tirade of abuse for this post from the keyboard warriors accusing me of being a racist or nazi, but having suffered first hand at the lack of services from OUR tax paid services i know we need to improve the care at home before we open our arms for those in distress abroad.

This thread should be moved to general chat section, or maybe those who wish to air their views on this topic should log on to the BBC website where I am sure there are ample opportunities to express their opinions. Perhaps we should concentrate our minds on the direction of (or lack of) the Cobblers at the moment rather than that of the refugees, though admittedly they do seem to have shown a better sense of direction in reaching Angela's 'Shrangri La' than we do at finding the goal at the moment!

Surely the solution is to protect these people in their own country, rather than making it necessary for them to risk their lives fleeing it to predominantly unwelcoming foreign countries.
Now must be the time for a decent sized "boots on the ground" coalition. This is exactly the nature of conflict that UN was established for.
Oh hang on, I see the problem..... We'd be fighting for lives, rather than oil.

didn't we try to help then in their own country? That's what led to the uprising and civil war and now this. And I wouldn't say the countries are unwelcoming, have you seen the train stations in German the past few hours?

I'm sure given the choice they would rather stay in their own country. With a well equipped and fully funded UN presence that is a difficult, but better option. But with no financial incentive to the west, it ain't gonna happen. Don't go praising the Germans too much. Or assuming that their reasons are entirely wholesome. Since the Hartz welfare and labour reforms in Germany, business has been able take the pi$$, effectively sanctioning slave labour and apprenticeships that Germans refuse to fill. Good old Germans Can I make it clear. I have no issue with genuine asylum. I do believe the Syrians fall into this category and for time being we should be taking a more positive stance. But with IS on the rampage, and the only response coming from the air, this is the start of potentially millions of migrants and in no way a solution. If indeed one exists.

This is a very good, fair way of looking at it all but, our NHS, SCHOOLS ECT. are all feeling the pressure of mass imigration, we do not have the room or the infrstucture to cope now, we are full tp over flowing, common sense needed here. We do not live in a perfect world, we CANNOT HAVE ANY MORE.
This is nonsense. Problems in the NHS for example have nothing to do with immigrants, and everything to do with a botched restructuring and ideologically driven cuts. We are not full to overflowing. We can take refugees. We can show that humanity and decency still exists in this country no matter how callous our government behaves to the sick, disabled, old, poor etc etc. The bigotry of the Dail Malevolent has a lot to answer for.

Sorry but I don't give a flying f**k about them. They hate us. Crime and terrorist attacks will skyrocket. Also if it was 20,000 Christians fleeing Europe would they really welcome us...Errr no. Also why didn't they stop in Jordan, Saudi Arabia etc??
