Don't think anyone quite said that but in essence, you are saying that the amount of supporters never has any effect on the players?

Doesn't appear to affect Burton Albion players.

Crazycobbler has a point but admit its a bit tenuous! I can remember packed support at away games in the past like Burton, Shrewsbury and Cheltenham where it did appear to make a difference. Of course I can remember games when it didn't like Rotherham away couple of years ago. For me there is nothing better than being in a Cobblers crowd in full swing.

Terrible news and a real blow to our chances of winning this one.

Chris Dunn is injured and is out for up to 6 weeks!

Saw his Mrs driving his white Audi through St. James earlier. From the brief glimpse, meh.

Maybe your view was obscured by the noxious fumes emanating from the Audi?

I have this one down as a 0 - 0. Each team hitting the woodwork once and one of the Cambridge lot getting sent off.

Just bought my ticket - wrongly according to official site, I am not a season ticket holder nor am I a member.
However they are apparently on General sale, so anybody that was waiting for tomorrow, fill yer boots!

I didn't say it did affect Burton players, I said so it 'NEVER has ANY effect' whatsoever? Do you think we'd have beat liverpool in cup a few years ago without the 4,000 that went? Or do you think the players were slightly more up for it hearing and seeing 4000 people behind them away from home? My point is yes its not always going to make a difference, but there are times when a good away following will make a difference.

Exactly, sometimes it will make a difference sometimes it won't, that's the point I'm trying to make.

Its all about opinions, but I suspect many on here will agree. Big test will be v Cambridge with many of the top hitters on here going Roll Eyes

I think it can make a difference but that difference can be negative as well as positive. That's why managers always trot out the mantra about keeping the opposing fans quiet. If your own fans start getting on your back it rarely ends well.

Yet players frequently state that once out on the pitch they cut out the crowd and simply concentrate on the match itself. I guess it depends on the player, the ground itself. Does the crowd affect the game in the way the game affects the crowd?

Or do you think the players were slightly more up for it hearing and seeing 4000 people behind them away from home? My point is yes its not always going to make a difference, but there are times when a good away following will make a difference.

Having less than 3000 for a home game hasn't affected Burton one jot, they got promotion last season and are top of League 1 in their maiden season at that level.

We've taken 3000 to away matches and not put in a performance on more occassions than we have turned in a good one.

Over the past few seasons Dagenham and Stevenage have been in League 1 while we've toiled and just escaped relegation from the football league. How many times recently have we finished above Accrington or Morecambe?

Meanwhile Oxford and Bristol Rovers are well supported yet have ended up in the conference. I really don't think it matters how many fans turn up as long as the players have the right attitude and the manager has put together a good team.

Portsmouth get 18000 yet have free fallen through the leagues and are in their second season with us.

So, I conclude, the myth that a high number of fans turning up and supporting you makes a difference is a load of bollocks.

Maybe our recent upturn on the pitch is due to us having no east stand and it void of atmosphere on that side.

Players, if money/location is equal, will always choose the more popular club with larger fan base. So having some fans can be beneficial.
