Home tie in area quarters / semi/2 legged area final against a local side would be of interest and final day out at Wembley something special. Getting your arses kicked out of the competition early doors is Shiite Mr wilder.

In its current format it doesn't work. They tried putting Conference teams in it a few years back but scrapped that idea. Maybe there will be a place for it next season with the "Development Squad" idea, it gives some of the fringe players a competitive run out. I'd also like to see more regionalisation for the first few games, say us in a group with Cambridge, Pish and Oxford. Then when it goes to straight knock out why not move a couple of the Saturday league games to midweek and play this competition on the Saturday instead?
I think a couple of the games last night showed there is appetite from the fans for local derbies, and there would be more of an appetite for Saturday (or even Sunday) games rather than Colchester at home on a Tuesday night.

Can't say I'd miss it if they binned it.

Totally agree. I could just about feign a bit of enthusiasm if we made it to the area semi-final but prior to that it's a real bore in my opinion. If they ditched the ridiculous rule about having to play a certain number of your recent 'first team' players it might become slightly more interesting as it could provide a rare chance to see some of the reserve/U21/U18 players who are otherwise an enigma to me throughout the league season (for example, I hear a bit about Dodzi Agbenu in the U18's but am yet to see him kick a ball).

I think that if they kept it regional so that (say) it was split into regions each with 4 or 8 teams in it then you could get a bit of interest in a yearly local competition. Play 1 to 3 games with a chance to win a trophy in October and be regional champs. Then the winners could go on and represent the region in a National knock out with the final at Wembley. It's not much of a change in the concept but would shorten the travel in the early rounds. JPT (or whoever) just have to shell out on a few more trophies.

I had a go at that with the current 48 teams. I reckon we'd end up in a group with Luton & Stevenage. Oxford would be in with Swindon & Wycombe, Cambridge with Peterborough and Colchester. Mind you, that would all change again as 5 teams leave the competition and 5 new clubs arrive.

It should begin in pre-season and the ridiculous selection rules should be binned.
Failing that just cancel the whole thing, no one will miss it.

If it's going to be kept, bring back the Triangle of Hate and have little 3 team groups, us,Cambridge n the blue bast@rds like in the 90s. And rename it the sherpa van trophy. It should be vehicle related. Bloody paint pots

Bin it and have a divisional cup competition like the Central Combination used to? Play it on FA Cup days with teams that get knocked out of FA cup?

I agree. Begin in pre season. Also, allocate one of England's European places to this competition. The possibility of the winners qualifying for European competition would spice things up a bit!

Don't understand the hate for it, offers league 1/2 club chance of cup success and Wembley of course.
Is there scope to regionalise it further, or perhaps revamp to make more attractive?

Doesn't even work for the FA Cup. How about the sponsorship money is put directly to the fans, with free entry for all JPT games?

The competition has been "revamped" more than the BBC!

It definitely needs spicing up a bit.
Was discussing this earlier with some mates.
R1 - 48 teams play on the Saturday before the league season starts (should see improved attendances). Ties to be regionalised and 24 teams progress to the next round. R2 - 8 x groups of 3 teams, again regionalised to best suit. Round robin group (matches to be played between September - December) with each game decided by penalties if required. Winners of each group progress to next round. QF - 8 group winners (split into North / South) - 4 teams to progress to SF. SF - 4 QF winners (split into North / South). Games to be played at neutral ground. F - Played at Wembley.
Winner into the Europa League would be a good shout. I'd love to watch the Teyn abroad.
