Loads of games already called off, horse racing, rugby etc but the most surprising is Sheff Wed vs the Blue Bastards already called off on New Years Day! How can they know what it'll be like over a week away?

Is that like Chelski against ManUre called off a couple of days early because FatLamps wasn't match fit yet?

Burst pipes in the ground, H&S said not to admit spectators til they are fixed, and they want to leave it as they expect more to burst when it thaws, so just sorting them all out at once

Do we think its fair that Blackpool may receive a fine from the Premier League because they have had 3 games called off this month?
I dont see how it would help to be honest. The reason they were called off was for frozen pitches because the club cant afford undersoil heating. How is a fine going to make it easier for the club to buy the heating that would prevent this?

They can afford it, but just chose not to buy it.

Correct. I heard a recent interview with Oyston and he basically said they decided it wasn't in their short term interest.

Doesn't that mean that the choice was under soil heating or remain in the Premier League? If thats the case, it could be argued that the club cant afford it. If the club remain in the PL, maybe they will take it over the summer break

What he said was that it wasn't top of their priority list at the time. When they got promotion they had a number of measures that had to be taken care of for them to be allowed to play in the Premiership ie completing the 4th side of the ground, upgrading the floodlights and various security measures. They had a very short timescale to do these. With the work going on and the short period of time it was not realisitic to be able to lay under soil heating at that time, but they will do so this next summer now.

They could have done in my opinion LC, I don't think they played their first home game till sometime in September.

Apparently it's about £250,000. Blackpool spent £1.5 million on DJ Campbell. I reckon the Premier League have got this right - clubs should be made get their ground up to scratch before splashing out on players.

Nowhere in the rules does it say they have to have it. If that's the case there's no real argument to fine Blackpool anything. Anyway when grounds which DO have under soil heating are called off they can hardly claim Blackpool have a problem.
