Just want to say that I do not appreciate  'Americanisations:

Quite right!

So glad I have the non appreciation of Americanisations in common with you then old boy  Wink

You're a sharp one. I will have to be keeping my eye on you won't I ?(I do have two eyes, just a figure of speech). If I should slip into the dark side again please do point it out,  thank you for your astute observation on this occasion. Wink The next time we meet I shall reward you with a Werther's original if I may, if that is not too German for you? Dreadful thing that Rolls Royce should be German owned don't you think?  Sad  Wink

First transfer window we go into for many years not actually NEEDING players.
Doubtless there may be players that we are interested in but we are not desperate. Maybe a centre half and maybe a striker both as cover. Possibly the two most fifficult positions to fill in any team.

Transfer window is also about who may leave as well. Given current form we also need the resolve to hold on to good players of which we are in the fortunate position of having a few.
Given that all of them stayed when they could have walked for free very recently bodes well you would hope.
I'm not sure what Evan Horwood has done or its just he cannot get into the match day squad but both him and Hackett must have a questionable future currently.
Sam Warburton and Danny Clifton have both been released recently also.

Here's to a dull January hopefully on the departures front.

I have seen Andy Rose play a number of times for Seattle Sounders in the recently finished MLS, and whilst he is a decent enough player he wasn't outstanding, usually either being subbed at some point or coming on as a sub. Although born in Melbourne he is actually English, having English parents and was on Bristol City's academy at a young age, but he has played all his senior football in the U.S. Although the MLS is not the greatest league in the world it is certainly higher than league 2 so don't know why he would want to drop down to our level.

I wonder whether wilder will go back in for furlong - Maloney kept getting exposed today but whether that's more due to our attacking style and lack of tracking back by the wide men (Buchanan got a bit of a chasing too in the first half but it doesn't look like horwood is anywhere near taking his place).

Maybe we should make a bid for Matt Tubbs as Portsmouth don't seem to want him at the moment, after all it worked for Holmes last year. I think he is better than both of their on loan strikers who I don't remember having a shot on goal between them.

Furlong and that lad Brisley would be high on my list. Bucanan does not inspire me. However like previous comments Wilders judgement is one I trust, so leave it to him. If we are to maintain this position then we need to add,  no doubt.

Defenders to improve our current selection and another CF to replace Rico when/if he is unavailable...or rested.

I couldn't agree more about all three players you mention. Plus we have been fortunate with injuries so far.

Can I ask how a left back would inspire you?

By thinking, blimey, that left back is good, he'll play for England one day, that's for sure.  Anybody ever had those feelings about one of our left backs?

Or just by being Phil Chard.

John Frain inspired me - and his goal in the 93rd still does.

I agree about needing another proven goal scorer.
Someone with the positional nous of morrys Scott combined with the predatory instincts of Tom youngs would be a start.

I hope we can get Furlong back. IMO he is better than Moloney. Brisley and another striker would be handy as well.
