For anyone planning on going to this by train, can still get there for £29 return if you book quickly.

I wonder if they'll be back in their home ground by then.

I got £13.50 single each way from Rugby on the Virgin Trains site, purchased them yesterday.

I was holding back until I knew whether they would be back home by then but having checked their website they are digging up the pitch this week for relaying and are hopeful of being back there on the 23rd January. I decided to take the risk seeing as we are not there until March 5th.

Carlisle on the train. I did this for £19 last year....

It is great fun, but go steady on alcohol haha. It took me 25 minutes to convince the stewards to let me in because I was so drunk  Embarrassed Grin And they then spent the entire game a few seats away from me.

Oh the view is stunning. It's worth it for that alone. I badly misjudged how much drinking time there is on that journey though  Embarrassed

Its not half as good as the journey between Bingley and Carlisle - obviously helped by the fact that much of it is Gods Own County rather than Lancashire.

Never use Trainline! Its always cheaper using any rail company site as no charge for cards.

There may be no charge but the actual tickets are a lot cheaper on Trainline...

Trainline don't charge cards, simply a flat rate £1 booking fee. And as said, sometimes cheaper but always far far less hasle than trying to log onto, create a/c and then try and get original price stated from First GW, London Mid et-al!
Possibly go from Oxfd - Carlisle via Brum (£18 from New St) and back via Mk. No connection from Brum after 9pm and MK very tight...problem either way!

Wrong. All websites show the same tickets (industry regulation), the trainline just has a clever way of making it look like they are offering a cheaper ticket.
