When is this nonsense going to stop regarding Chris Wilder's next managerial appointment... Following the likely failure of England at Euro 2016 ( no I'm not a closet Scotsmen, just a realist) will he be earmarked to take over from our esteemed Roy Hodgson!
OK that's a bit of a joke, but so would CW'S takeover at a ravished League One outfit in London..any decision to move upwards to a promising Championship Team like Nottingham Forest would gain him my blessing, but please give us a hopeful close season when we can dream of our own aspirations.

I dont think you share his "humour" or even demonstrate similar humour. I like the one you put about Marquis and the Peterborough scarf etc let alone the one about Collins and drinking from a special mug! Great stuff.

This thread will keep running until he either goes through his own choice or after the ten losses by October of the new season...

Well on sky bet he's 1/8 on. That is pretty conclusive in anyones books, apart from of course in Appleton's which would most likely make him 2nd favourite for the job.

My gutt feeling is that he's off. Strange given the celebrations etc yesterday, normally you pick up on body language etc in these instances. Not that he owes us anything of course!!

Given that he didn't seem interested in the Bolton job, Im a little surprised that he would take a job at a similar size club and considerably further away from his family home. He commutes doesn't he most days? So thats another 3 hours minimum door to door round trip so surely that would mean he would have to re-locate as well.

On the flip side, Charlton are a very decent club with a solid 15-20k fan base. Bolton's fan base I reckon is a little more fragile. And if its budget/funds for players that will force his move then perhaps that is what makes this job attractive to him; he would have had to make do with what Bolton already have next season and spend the Summer trying to reduce the wage bill rather than add to it.

What Charlton offers is a genuine path to the premiership. IF their ownership allows a decent manager to manage, something which has been an issue in recent times. It would be a big risk but lets face it...if it goes tit's up Wilder knows he could come back here as soon as we had a vacancy in the future. Or another similar sized club to us. No lose for him I guess...

Charlton under their current owners are an absolute basketcase. I've been following developments at the Valley quite closely this season and the fanbase you are speaking there won't be there next season as there has been a huge boycott of ST's until the regime changes ala Blackpool this season. He's committing career suicide by going there in my opinion.

Burton have gone through 3 managers during their back to back promotions...

Leicester didn't do too shabby with their close season managerial change either.

Templates are in order. We have a fantastic team spirit. This was all put into place by Wilder. So if he does leave and assuming he isn't replaced with a divisive type of manager like Johnson, we should be fine.

Walsall is a good example of what I mean by this. They did great until their boss left for Brentford, then appointed Sean O'Driscoll who tried to change everything. Didn't work, they got rid of quickly...and they've done great again since.

If the worst happens and Wilder does leave, it doesn't mean that we will struggle next season. Far from it.

I heard that if Burton fail to gain promotion to the championship, Nigel Clough will consider a move to Northampton.

Ownership of clubs can change very quickly. When he left Oxford for us, he reported to we all know who. So he's pretty used to managing a team whilst the fans are protesting against the clubs owners. Its what probably qualifies him best for the job!  Grin

When CW came to us there was no major issue about the club's ownership, that came about later.  At the present time Charlton is in turmoil and the supporters are protesting loudly against their Belgium owner on a number of aspects, not least interference with the playing side. As things stand not a club to move to I suggest. I think CW is too shrewd to be seduced by promises and will look at things in clear daylight and how disastrously the Belgium has run CAFC.  One significant factor in favour of CW staying is the relationship he has with KT. Only CW knows what his intentions are but I like to think he has his heart in NTFC and stays. May I be right.
