Loved the chant
"premier league and you **** it up, championship and you **** it up, league one and you **** it up... league two and you're still **** it up'  Grin
Quite frankly embarrassing, cringeable and classless! Might have been funny once, but years later, we're still singing it! How many times do you think Pompey have had to hear that original ditty?  Roll Eyes

If they get promoted I hope that the fixture list is kind and is a Sat either at the beginning or the end of the season. Enjoyed yesterday at a proper old ground and a night away.

Spoke with a few Pompey fans before and after the game. Deluded fan's views online don't represent the attitudes of most of their supporters. Found them to be pretty friendly and had some good banter.

So glad to be out of this league but Pompey is right up there on my list of top away days!

But it was the first time I had heard it and so thought it funny. The last time I was at Pompey was for the league cup game a few years ago, not since.
Let's face it, there aren't many clubs that we can use it against regardless of how many times we've played them.

I thought it was funny but agree they may have heard it before.
To be fair there some good songs this year success tends to breed that and of course we actually have players that are worth singing about.
Loving the 24 undefeated song caught on really quickly.

The Pompey section to the right of us with their jeering etc; should imagine it was aimed at them. Sort of "they got what they deserved". Surprised you think it was embarrassing and cringeable; classless yes but this was a highly charged football game so the chant fitted the situation. To me there is nothing better than being in a Cobblers crowd in full swing , able to hold their own with any oppo'.
As for the 24 chant; the rendering by so many was very good and in some ways quite moving. Was trying to think of the tune it matched but couldnt until I saw the lyrics on here.

The whole day = Perfection
PERFECT journey down Got off the Northern Line at Charing Cross and walked over (Hungerford?) bridge to Waterloo. The capital shouded in sun haze/ mist looked quite fetching.
PERFECT journey on SWT to Portsmouth Harbour through some nice places
PERFECT walk around Gunwharf Quays and Southsea many Cobblers fans
PERFECT couple of drinks in Old Portsmouth at Stills and West and Wellington (I think) overlooking Portsmouth Harbour.
PERFECT walk to the ground from Fratton Station good police directions great atmosphere outside a couple of pubs.
PERFECT ground to play our last game. Bit tight behind the atand but big enough to fit us all in.
PERFECT performance by both teams despite the hot weather
PERFECT to score the final goal in front of Cobblers fans.
PERFECT celebrations at the end
PERFECT 2 hours in London on the way back too
Even though I haven't been to every game this season, it has been fantstic. Wilder, Knill and all the players I say thank-you those that stay, those that move on.
#proudtobe I certainly was at the weekend a fantastic club that is now run by good people and supported by the best fans in the world.
Anyone else a bit gutted that it's all over? Usually by now I've had my fill of football but not this year, I want more t shirts, I want a dvd, I want news from the club EVERY day, a new signing

I too found it neither embarrassing, cringeable nor classless! Looks like you're on your own, Rob from Hinckley, which surprises me!! I thought it suited the mood just right and was aimed at the section of Pompey fans near to us. We can possibly use most of it against Charlton and Bolton next season!!! I'm also surprised nobody has used it against us...but then again it was 50 years ago that we were in the top flight!!!

Certainly a fantastic day and made in a number of ways by the gracious sporting attitude of Portsmouth - everything from the programme notes, to the Pompey fans in pubs before and after the game - they know their football, like us have experienced a far amount of crap during their supporting tenure but don't feel compelled to punch the lights out of a fellow fan wearing a different colour or supporting a team that has just beaten them.

Some of our fans did push their luck a little. As I walked out towards the Buses we intermingled with some Pompey fans. We had two or three fans, youngish, tattoed, strange haircuts who where giving any Pompey fan near them with "Who r u" when we got to the cross roads a group of like minded Pompey fans gave a glare or two but decided against mixing it. I could still hear them giving Pompey fans grief as they walked away in the opposite direction. Suspect the Police presence was enough to deter most trouble. I noticed that a couple of Pompey fans to our right managed to get themselves evicted!

That Pompey fan who was practically carried up the stairs by the police near the end of the game was absolutely priceless.

I'm sure that some of those in that right hand corner spent the whole game gesticulating at the away support rather than watching the match in front of them.
