Oxford calling... Congratulations on winning the title, by a country mile I might add. I think our manager has got a bit carried away with the hysteria that winning a season defining game has with it. Contrary to popular belief in your town we are not all baby eating, SILVER POLISH DRINKING morons. Some see the game for what it is. Oxfords home form let them down this season and you took advantage of that and went from strength to strength. Fair play to you. Enjoy it, the sun is out in both our places and we are all having a ball. See you next season!
Cheers. Enjoy the celebrations

Cheers Blackbird, much appreciated. Mind you, you keep saying things like that and you're liable to end up with a banning order down at the Kassam

I think this is all so funny. Especially the bit where a football manager has said he has had the best team in a division and yet under his stewardship they have not only managed to finish second 13 points adrift but also took till the last game to actually get promotion. Well done all involved.

WOW!!!!
finish a couple of points behind the champions and claim you're the best team in the league and it looks a bit like sour grapes.
finish six or seven points behind the champions and claim you're the best team in the league and you look delusional with limited understanding of football.
finish thirteen points behind the champions, lose to them twice and claim you're the best team in the league and you look like a complete moron who has no knowledge of football.
It's one of those times you don't even need to make a proper argument against his garbage, just put a copy of the league table next to it and let the rest of the world judge him for the f@ckwit he is.

He's clearly just on the wind-up and it's a pop at Wilder, Clarke and Rose, none of whom are on his Christmas card list. He obviously doesn't actually think that, there's no need for us to be rising to it. We won the league with 99 points and we're 24 unbeaten, Martin Appleton's opinion shouldn't even register.

I do feel a bit sorry for Oxford and their fans. Even after the season they've had, they will forever be remembered as being in the shadow of our fantastic team guided by a manager most of their fans despise.
As for Appleton's comments, he's entitled to his opinion however much I disagree with him. He's put a lot of pressure on his side next year and it'll be interest to see how we both fare. I welcome the rivalry between the two clubs as football can be a bit too friendly these days and its much better when there is a edge to matches.
You know when people refer to 'fishing or biting' comments that they have lost / are losing the argument. Similar to when people revert to speling mistakes as a way to deflect attention away from them looking silly.

I don't like Bell End Managers (Evans, Brown, Ainsworth et al), but I can put up with them. The dillusional ones though (i.e Martin Appleton, Kevin Curle, David Adams, Gareth Johnson) proper get my goat. If I made excuses/statements like them in my job, I'd not have gotten very far. Zero class. Still it'll add an extra spice to the games next season (provided he hasn't been poached by Real Madrid over the summer). Prior to Oxford, Appleton's managerial record was abismal, I couldnt believe he kept on finding work. He looked like a little lost boy at Blackpool and Pompy. I fully expect him to get found out at some point next season, especially if he loses some of his world class players. http://www.managerstats.co.uk/managers/michael-appleton/http://www.managerstats.co.uk/managers/chris-wilder/

He's done us a massive favour as surely none of the other teams will want to sign any of our second rate players now he's pointed it out to the world

It could have something to do with the fact that after applying for the job here he was rejected.

Not exactly shocked he has tried to big up his own club. Dosnt change the fact we bossed the league. I dont want to see a team only have a plan A, as shown in the games against us it dosnt always work. I wanted to see a team that wins by doing everything well and that indeed is us!

He really shouldn't be rising to it publically like that . Appleton has finished finished runner-up in the league, runner-up in the paint pot and runner-up in both games against us, but his team has won the passing and he has won the banter. Well done to him, case closed.

You don't go through a grueling 46 game season, win the league the league by 13 points and go unbeaten for 24 games, only to be insulted by embarrassing comments from another manager in the league. David Buchanan, I salute you
