I wonder if Page was Melville's first recruitment

Exactly my first thoughts when I read this earlier, Alton.

Or if Melville was Page's first recruitment?  Which came first the Page or the Melville?

Does this comment clear up any doubts who came first?

Northampton Town have recently appointed former Welsh international defender Andy Melville to the role of Head of Recruitment.

Melville, who joined the club in the closing months of the season

If he completes two full seasons in league 1 without a return to the basement he will have achieved more than the rest in my lifetime. We normally survive first season, relegated second then say we'll bounce straight back and take 7-10 years then repeat.

He's our manager therefore I back him and the team. Unless they're sh it and lose every week where I'll feel mildly miffed and still carry on supporting

It's normally 3 seasons in the third tier - although the second one has more often than not been a flirting with relegation or actual relegation than anything comfortable. The only time we've had a decent second season out of the basement was under Stuart Gray (with the normal relegated third season)

You're right. Ultimately what I'd prefer is to be established league 1 with aspirations/flirtations with the Championship. Not yoyoing between the bottom 2 and mostly in the bottom.

Don't know if I've missed something that he's said (apologies if so) but is he planning on bringing in an assistant manager at all? I thought it was fairly common for them to be appointed at (roughly) the same time as one another. Was he working alongside somebody at Vale? Is he possibly considering Richards?

It could well be, he was a very good center- half, just very injury prone. But that of course wont be an issue.

If so, hope he can do what DB did.

Now that would be something, Imagine seeing the Cobblers do that Twice in your lifetime !!

If it's the same Paul Wilkinson who was here before, let's hope he's more successful this time around.
