Any premiership, in fact, any team in the world would have given anything to have a genuine master at the art of defence, such as Terry.

No doubt he is not as good as he was. But then again. Nobody was as good as he was.

I am well aware that I was just illustrating the best British defender ever. I never realised it would make such stir  Grin Grin Grin

But by all means, read below and stand back in awe at his domination and prowess... And think yourselves lucky we never got onto midfielders, or as they are known..... Super Franks lessers  Grin Tongue

1 - Champions league title

3 - League Cup successes.

4 - Premier League titles.

5 - FA Cup wins.

27 - Headed goals in the premiership (10th best of all time)

40 - Total goals in the premiership (A record for a defender)

48 - Chelsea's top flight win percentage without Terry in the team

63 - Chelsea's top flight win percentage with Terry in the team.

68 - Yellow cards in the Premier League.

78 - Appearances for England.

109 - Appearances in the Champions League. 15th in the all-time list.

477 - Appearances in the Premier League. 14th in the all-time list and more than any other Chelsea player.

3420 - Minutes played in Chelsea's title-winning season in 2014-15. Every single one.

Someone's rattled themselves

I don't disagree, in JTs day there was not too much better, but were going back what 3/4/5 years. How much do you honestly think he will play next season???

As for Cresswell, he couldn't cut it top end of league 2, (wilder realised this hence him being 4th choice), so no chance in league 1. I would honestly expect to see both his and Taylors contracts terminated before we get to July.

I never said he will... I was responding to a simple theme of what makes the best defender. I never saw the word "current" anywhere..

I think we should keep Taylor, every good team needs a player like him, Remember Whiteside of Manchester utd? no one liked  him, but all the united fans did !!

Granted we need a player like Taylor, but surley we can do better - I think he may end up back at Cheltenham which about his level.

Just to add my support for Cresswell (our own JT) who I feel is adequate for L1 - also perhaps a little short changed when it came to selection. Unless of course he upset CW!

I agree, he was slightly short changed. Either he upset Wilder or Wilder viewed him as the weakest CB in the squad.

I think it was something to do with the goals conceded at home to MK, I don't think he featured much after that

IMO he is the weakest center back in the squad. Definitely wouldn't have him ahead of Zander or Rod.

Diamond is the weakest I think. Titanic turns quicker than him.

Completely disagree. Who were the CB's during our 24 undefeated run? Who was the ever present?

As for turning like the titanic... R. Cresswell springs to mind.

Diamond is also the only player to have been with us and playing from when we were bottom of the league to winning the title. Not a coincidence.

I saw Cresswell outpace an oppo' fwd in a home game last season. To me he is our JT. Still its only an opinion.
