Confirmed by Jeremy Casey on Twitter.
This summer is turning into a bit of a nightmare TBH.

I wouldn't beg a player to stay. If you don't wanna be here then go - no players is bigger than the club. #ntfc

Correct, we just need to make sure we are fully compensated. Its difficult to know what that would look like with someone of Holmes rare ability and age and with just the year left on contract - what would you say £250K?

Hmmm, possibly been tapped up? Strange he should ask to be allowed to leave without anyone actually making a bid. Unless of course someone has, has been refused and Holmes didn't like it.
The Wilder switch left a slightly sour taste, though we knew it was always going to happen if SU came forward. This one will leave a very sour taste. We gave him the chance to resurrect his career - I'd have liked another season as repayment...

Marquis - Replaceable Rose - Replaceable Adams - Replaceable Collins - Replaceable
Holmes - Irreplaceable
This is not good news for us but there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. Let's just hope it is resolved quickly and we move on.

IMHO Holmes is a rarity insofar as I think the potential value to us on the field next year is worth more than 250k if he helps keep us up / push on. Would anyone disagree that if we didn't have him for that half season or so this year, we may not have gone up?

Multiple bids already refused according to the club. Chron sort of implies the multiple offers have all come from the same club (at least that's my reading of the article).

Oh dear .....it's all stating to unravel, or even unrevel, shame it was always going to nye on impossible to hold the all conquering team together after the Manager deserted ship.......there might be a queue ...let's hope he doesn't go on the cheap.
Looks like Pagey will need to build his own team of world beaters......hoping for mid table now.

His value to us is far more than clubs would be willing to pay for a player of his age IMO. Wouldnt take less than 400k plus for him. Why should we, we are far worse without him so we need to be compensated for that.
One thing is for sure I will remember his time here fondly, how many wonder goals did he bag for us? Stevenage, Luton, Dagenham etc etc.

I don't understand the secrecy in these situations - not regarding the bidder at least. Fair enough, keep the amount under wraps but what is lost or gained from identifying which club?

That's the spirit. We may as well have it written into players contracts that they are free to stay just so long as they feel like it. We have won the league and all of a sudden become a seemingly very unattractive club to players. Rose, Adams, Holmes and who knows who else wanting out. Is Page that much of an unlikable person? Why were we a bigger pull when we were in League Two?? The irony is the players who were desperate to play for us (Marquis and Lelan) weren't offered terms.

Bad news. It will be very difficult to replace him and unsettling for last season's players and for many supporters. I would add that if the decision has been made by KT to sell him (and this seems to be what he is saying with the transfer request) then the £250,000 being mentioned is half of what I would expect.

Now will be the true test of Page , He was brought in to keep things ticking over in an already built team. Now he will be building his own side, I feel for him.

Ok, let's put a positive slant on this - by playing some negatives
There's no guarantee Holmes would be the player in L1 as he was in L2. He missed a huge chunk injured. What's to say that won't happen again? He clearly doesn't love us as much as we love him.
I'm trying here......
Thanks for the memories Ricky. Seems like you've already left us though

Not a surprise really as the club have turned down bids for him. When he leaves that will make 9 leaving since the end of the season. So far we have brought in a 33 year old has been and a 22 year old who's never kicked a ball in a first team game. Only the lad from Cov looks a decent replacement. Not looking too good is it ?

Without Ricky Holmes we are relegation candidates. It's not so much the playing value that must be taken into consideration it's the cost of his loss to us. I'd suggest £500,000 isn't much good for the long term future of the club if we are back in league two and all momentum is lost. It could set us back years. If we have any ambition we'd make him see his contract out and sod the cash. We need to consolidate in league one not sell our best players and come back down. I don't see Oxford or Bristol rovers selling their best players. Same old cobblers, A pound note flutters by and we feel compelled to sell. He is still our player and he should be made to see out his contract. Whatever cash is offered you are not going to replace Ricky Holmes. Man Utd couldn't replace Ronaldo Spurs couldn't replace bale We as sure as hell won't replace Holmes. If he goes we are right in the s*** as far as I'm concerned.

As Cobblers fans, we really should know better.
Unfortunately, last season's success and the euphoria it created has only served to lull us into a false sense of hope and optimism, breaking from what should be our innate emotions as a cobblers fan - desperation, depression and despair.
We've already lost one of the two key reasons for our success - we now look destined to lose the other.
Gareth Bale will probably destroy England tomorrow too now....
