Shocking news. Always thought he would re-join us at some point. RIP Richard.

Like many on here I knew Richard in passing (based on us being the same age, school year, and having social groups that overlapped).  I drive past Macc's ground on my way to work and was thinking of taking some flowers and a scarf to add to the tributes.  If people are happy for me to do so I will sign it from The Hotel Enders Northampton.

There's an online book of condolences in the link below if anyone wishes to pay their respects.

Not sure if you have seen this or not but it seems you live in the area and as you knew Richard i'm sure it would be good for you to do this on behalf of NTFC

I have just rang the club, spoke with Gareth W, the club have got Richards Uncle to go along on behalf of them...If I can make it I will still go along with my scarf on anyway. Would get my Cheshire Cobs Flag out but it is stored somewhere in the house and I am not sure where.

Do you want to take the Sixfields Boys flag Steve? I can drop it off for you at your work.

NORTHAMPTON will be holding a minute’s silence before kick-off tomorrow.

It is as a mark of respect for the Macclesfield Town player Richard Butcher, who started his career at Northampton. The 29-year-old died last week.
