Yes, but three of the players from that midfield have since departed. Keep up Slightly misleading comment from you: Holmes - from December onwards. Adams - ended up as a squad player although he did make the last few games. More often that not was substituted. Rose - Played well , dropped and then came back strongly. In reality only Holmes is really missed; whilst IMO the other two had no previous experience in L1 (?) - thought that there was a common consensus amongst the experts on here that L1 might be too much of a big step for them. I suppose your real point is that provided all three are replaced satisfactorily then we maybe up to speed. Apparently Adams has 100 x L1 games under his belt.

That is exactly my point. I was commenting on the fact he claimed 'Last night's midfield' had just won League 2, whereas as you point out this isn't the case.

I think 1-1 is a fair result.
Our defence was excellent throughout the match, particularly Zander Diamond, who was authoritative and confident. Very happy with how the defence performed and because QPR could only get 1 past them with QPR having had most of the possession for 90 minutes, I feel confident that our defence will be more than capable against what League One will throw at us.
Rico was completely isolated up front and barely touched the ball. I felt sorry for him because he had no chance whatsoever to make an impact on the game.
New Spurs trialist looked pacey and just the sort of player we need on the wing. His crossing still needs work though but that will come if we sign him and give him regular games.
Revell did well with the goal- it was an excellent finish and he showed that he is cool under pressure and a great finisher. However, he was hardly in the game before that (same as Rico) and he did seem to be struggling to keep up with the wingers towards the end, he looked somewhat laboured. Hopefully that's nust pre-season unfitness though and he'll be a bit more pacey by the start of the season.
Smith was a bit shaky in goal but did make a couple of good saves when he had to. I think Smith is just rusty from lack of football over the past couple of months. He's still our most valuable player on the pitch.
Now, I'll come to the midfield. Dear oh dear. I think we just need to start again, to be honest. McWilliams was running forward at every opportunity but looked almost constantly out of position. McWilliams struggled to keep possession as well. He's very young though and I do see potential there. I would like Page to perhaps give him a few games to find his place in the team and then he can develop into a first team player, but that needs to be done after we have got our season off to a good start. McWilliams is not a dependable player at the moment.
Joel Byrom looked non-existent. Hardly affected the game at all. His marking wasn't up to much, either. And then there's JJOT. Had a bit of a shocker I think, was wasteful in possession, didn't offer anything in attack, and his passing was often way off target and easily intercepted. O'Toole is a good footballer but tonight he was not up to his usual standards.
QPR, for all their possession, struggled to break us down throughout the match and more than anything I'm encouraged by the performance. QPR were a good side tonight and I wish them the best of luck in the Championship. But I'm happy that Cobblers drew against them and we didn't seem too troubled by them for the majority of the match.
Absolutely beautiful evening, by the way. Weather was fantastic and the West Stand was a cooler temperature because it was in the shade. Perfect for watching football. This is what preseason football is all about!
Was impressed by the new gents' toilets In/Out system and it certainly reduced congestion, but the real test will come vs Fleetwood when the attendance is double what it was tonight!
Good to here that we are defending well, something we were unable to do at times last sseason..

I never go to pre-season friendlies.
But I was a bit confused looking at the pictures.
I may be wrong but I thought QPR played in light blue and white hoops and Cobblers in claret.
Yet it seems that the team playing in claret were QPR and the Cobblers were imitating Spurs/Fulham/Derby etc. etc. in white shirts and black shirts.
Is there a reason for this?

We were wearing this season's away strip. The new home kit is being unveiled this weekend.

Saw the highlights before reading this and was rather excited by some of our slick passing moves until I read here that it was QPR who played in claret! Never mind - at least we scored the best goal!

Rob Page said about the game against QPR '' It was a disiplined performance'' by the cobblers, NOW THAT THE SORT OF TALK I like to here from a manager. I am warming up nicely to next season, I think we will have a defense again at last.
