Now Big Sam is in the chair of despair, he was asked about what is holding England back,

"No midseason break. I have been an advocate of that for 10 years or more. The demand on players is enormous. In my time when we finish at Christmas, in January and February it is always the most difficult time to get players through."

So, if he gets his way and the Premiership shuts down for those two months, an opportunity maybe? I'm in favour as it just maybe encourage a few Premadonnas to visit their local club. The only downer is that once we do get to the premiership, we may be forced to Brackley, Posh or even Oxford!

Winter break a good idea or not and where would you get your fix if we were settled in the top flight?

I've always thought it's a good idea in theory. But most clubs will surely use it as an opportunity to set up money spinning football friendly tournaments in the likes of Dubai/Qatar.

They do but it is an opportunity for those players carrying injuries to get rest and be treated to enable them to be best placed to finish the season.
A 4 week winter break after the New Years or Boxing Day games, which doesn't take away from the traditional Christmas fixtures?
The difficulty will be scheduling the 3rd round and on of the FA Cup.

We'll need a bigger capacity to accommodate all those Premier League fans looking for fixtures? Missed opportunity?

I was taking the pisRoll Eyes

The point being, if the Premiership does take a winter break, those supporters who don't support their home club but regularly travel to the Premier games might be tempted to try something more local. Not like you to miss the point though eh?

I sometimes pop down to Bournemouth for a week or two with a few lads from the pub.   Here we are in our swimming trunks a few years ago...
