Have they run out of money?

Have they run out of money?
Very likely - arrogant gits when they were briefly on the up with money no object now I foresee another R&D type collapse - although we shouldn't be complacent on the field, wounded animal and all that.

Maybe, but possibly also because of the nobodies on high wages that have been signed, and certainly because of the owners avowed new aims and objectives: " The former Scotland international kept Fleetwood up after Pilley had announced a shift in the way they club would be run. The playing budget has been cut with Pilley wanting Fleetwood to be self-sustaining, producing home-grown talent rather than splashing the cash on expensive recruits. In order to achieve that goal a new state-of-the-art training ground complex has been built which Alex Ferguson opened back in April. “You can’t just fund aimlessly. You have to create something that is sustainable,” Pilley said. “You have to create an infrastructure that keeps the tills ringing.” Maybe the KT ways are becoming widespread. There seems to be some eager names ready to step in, one not unrelated to AF.

Bit like Burnley

Like most business people with only moderate wealth that come into football - they realize it's like chucking money down a bottomless pit and sooner or later will back off on the funding and come up with a statement littered with the word sustainability - trouble is I'm not sure that is ever possible in current day football so the ego seeking rich benefactors will come and go - clubs will rise and invariably fall, and the cycle gets repeated. There are exceptions & what I like about KT, and may be different from the above scenario, is what we achieved last year was absolutely without money being chucked at the situation - just enough really to ensure our survival. KT's ambitions have been modest but practical & progressive - more importantly to-date he has delivered on them. That's why Bed's constant moaning and MW's suggestion KT is keeping the Holmes money in his pocket is both irritating and graceless.

It's clear, and I'm totally ok with it, that KT won't be chucking money about this season either so we shall likely have a mid to lower table budget. Thankfully this board isn't representative of the majority of Cobblers fans. The fretting on here over a couple of bad pre-season games was embarrassing. It gave me a sense of anti Page from some not willing to accept anything less than Wilder and another 24 undefeated. Page should be left to do the job he was brought in to do and to be allowed to do it with everyone's full support.

You've got to remember that the people that seemed to be willing Page to fail, like the MUFC fans with whoever it was to be that took over from Ferguson, were mostly (& you can tell this from the Facebook NTFC pages) daft kids.

Well the first part right anyway! Given our recent problems and very recent success - why anyone would start rubbishing Page or KT is completely beyond me

This as far as Im concerned is the post of the Summer. What irritated me most about the DC reign was his boom and bust approach to budgeting. What was concerning me (before we signed Beautyman and to a lesser extent still today) is that there were/are signs that KT may have been doing the same, i.e. reducing the wage bill. Clearly I was hasty speculating that, it will be obvious either way once the season kicks off. All I want from our chairman (whomever it is) is a sustainable business plan allowing investment to go up season on season. Investment comes out of the turnover as far as the team is concerned unless their is money to burn available. I do not want another fruit machine chairman. Someone throwing money into it hoping to win the jackpot and then ending up taking out 2 pound wins only to stick the coins back in the slot! (sorry, only Fruit machine connoisseurs will probably understand this )

If during our darkest time players had left due to not being paid (which is still amazing none did) and our form fizzled out yet KT stepped in and saved the club and we'd finished safely but unspectacularly I think many would have been grateful and relieved to still have a league club.
The way we smashed the league was brilliant and testament to character and characters getting the best out of each other. We need to build with ambition tempered with realism of a sensible budget that doesn't risk the long term future. Team GB cycling have been super successful by building on individuals performance in small incremental steps to improve. If KT has so far tried to improve communication, engagement, ticketing (in progress), reinstated seats in the East to get some income, toilets, decor, etc I see this as similar achievable improvements. It may not add points to a league table but if it adds to sustainability and increased playing budget hopefully then this should follow.

So here we are almost on the eve of our last pre season game and I don't think anyone can honestly predict what our lineup against fleetwood is going to be, not exactly what pre season is supposed to be about. The only certainties in my mind are Smith, buchs, Zak, jj, beautyman, d'ath and presumably one of Rico or revell depending on what formation we are going to go with. I would imagine that zander is also pencilled in but I'd rather have the extra pace of rodders. Anyone else got any predictions/views?

New manager and a new league so it's not surprising us lot aren't sure what the lineup will be for the first game. I'm glad it's not a tough a start as there are a few awkward games to follow.

Quite a few who now are banging the drum for Rob Page were the very same who started erecting the gallows during a minor wobble shortly after he unlike so many other so called saviours..Really saved us. I will back all managers and players without turning against them at the drop of a few points. We will beat Fleetwood by a hat full and take up top spot on the first day and remain in the playoffs all season ahead of a glorious day at Wembley.
