Lee Thorpe ... Those of us with memories of that day with Ian Clarkson will never ever support that player.

I would have thought the fact that Sammo probably played alongside Clarkson that day would preclude him from moving for Thorpe, quite apart from the bald ones' chronic lack of ability.

Of the (realistic) names mentioned so far, Leon Mackenzie is the one who appeals to me the most. You have to wonder why some of these players are still without clubs, but Mackenzie has got a good pedigree and I think he could still score goals at this level. The question is whether he'd be hungry enough to put in the required effort - we don't want another Constantine on our hands.

Just to put the Aliadiere rumour/wanting to bed:

According to yesterdays The Sun newspaper, Aliadiere has a hamstring injury. He had a trial with West Ham and got the injury playing in a friendly.

No one wants to sign him purely on the basis that he is injured

I guess that puts us in pole position.
The fact that Bayo had an iron rod in his leg didn't stop us from signing him, so why don't we pounce now whilst he has nothing better on the table?

Point of order, Your Excellency.  As the summer transfer window has now closed, shouldn't the summer rumours thread also be closed.  Any rumours now should surely be autumn rumours and require to be posted in a suitably named thread rather than the afore-mentioned thread.
