Indeed unfortunately for Hoskins playing him up front doesn't do him many favours either, I would never have given him a contract in L1. Gorre is an enigma there is undoubted talent there just a complete lack of application and unfortunately attitude is everything especially in football so I to would send him back with must try harder on his report. It's just a matter of time until the crowd turn on him.

At our level I want players that are like that on a foggy November evening in Hartlepool........

What Gorre was afforded last night was a little more time on the ball than he's been used to in his first few games with us. Don't forget, this is a lad who has developed through academy football and a brief spell in the Eredivisie which isn't exactly the school of hard knocks. I don't doubt his ability but it's pretty clear that the shock to the system has severely dented his confidence. Last night, you could see his enthusiasm grow as he was given the time on the ball and some of his dribbles and feints were delicious before he converted his penalty with ease. I really do think we've got a player on our hands here. It's just going to take him a little time to get used to grind of lower league football and the way (as another poster pointed out elsewhere) that his defensive responsibilities off the ball are just as important as his attacking responsibilities with it.

I concur about him getting a bit of a free pass. I'm not certain he's a centre midfielder to be honest, although I'm not certain any of the midfield are playing in their actual positions currently.... However, I don't think he's remotely fit yet and do think he will be a classy player when he is.
Turns out he is a centre midfielder, but needs to be further up the field, so kind of was in his wrong position Great game yesterday.

Absolutely spot on Matthew, and possibly more important he is just 21 years old. Basically just a kid in any life terms. The impatience and expectancy of some of our fans has bordered on the idiotic, perfectly summed up in Cobblerwatch's comment.

Lets see if we can again turn on it when we visit the Rico on Saturday which for me will be a more important game.

Not sure why an observation of a players effort (certainly not ability) is idiotic but if you believe his work rate and effort has been acceptable in the games up to last night then that is of course your opinion - I don't agree but I won't ridicule that viewpoint. l I do however take minor exception 😉 on an accusation of either impatience or false expectancy - far too long a cobbler supporter for that!

You're right it was a bit strong directed at you individually. I apologise. I do strongly think that mature fans who really should know better about life let alone football shouldn't be getting on the back of a 21 so easily. 21 is no age and as Matt Rush explains he certainly has the technique, I just think the rushing about to cover and stamina needed to do that at this level will be something that will probably be alian to him and come with time.

Hoping for us to get relegated are we, unless you are alternatively hoping to meet the Monkey Hangers in the first round of the FA Cup?

Fair point and no need to apologise - I certainly would not get on the back of players to the extent of booing or abusing them but watching a spectrum of football often at youth level I have seen talented players (certainly not the finished article) squander a fantastic opportunity because of attitude. I don't entirely agree with the youthful aspect of Gorre after all you can't win anything with kids (yes you can), Rooney made his debut at 16 and even our own Ivan at 4 years younger (again far from the finished article) chased every 50 50 ball, made space and never ducked a challenge. I do certainly agree about adjusting to the level take time so hopefully my early assessment is wrong.

I think it's cruel to make a 12 year play professional football.

You do realise that this isn't always a good thing, right? In fact, in other footballing nations this would be seen as a negative.
