For me its a loan slot wasted with the new rules, you only get so many a year. Fot me you should be using the loan market to secure potential and quality you could not attract permanently

Mixed message from Vale fans,
Some are annoyed that he has been loaned to us as he is good, others are happy to see the back of him.
I actually think he should have been given more of a chance the first time around.

http://www.onevalefan.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?26727-Outgoing-loan-coming-soonBefore many of you have a hissy fit and see the kid as the same player we let go a few years ago, take a read of the above. Read between the lines, read the 6 pages and come to a conclusion. In summary, Vale play a 4-3-3 system like we did for much of last season. So JJ has been confined to the wing in recent times, something he's not too happy with. He finished last season as a striker and won the league 1 player of the month award. Not bad going eh? Since their new manager has come in, he's changed the system and JJ isn't suited in his best position given their other options. This time last year we sold Ivan Toney, who couldn't get a game at the time. Im actually looking forward to seeing the lad play on Saturday. We know he's quick, we *might well have done some good business here.

He is exactly the type of player we need,I only hope we've got an agreement to sign him permenantly in January. If not it seems a stupid move. If he scores a hatfull what chance have we realistically got of signing him permanently?

My worry is that if he hits double figures he will be gone in January.

I tend to agree. The balance of risk and reward seems tilted in Port Vale's favour. However Page and Hooper have an awful lot riding on each other, so it might work, and I had heard close season that we might hardly see Rico again, and it's increasingly sounding like that: nearly 500 first team appearances as a striker is a great achievement at any level, but four hours of football since mid Feb at 34 years of age? May be an unforeseen stop gap measure.

In order for that to happen, the supply chain will have to increase dramatically. And that department, is more of a worry for me.
