I personally was very pleased to see Brendan back in the team last night and considering this lack of football this term I was very impressed. I really hope the RP see's this too, Phillips still has a lot to learn but it was great to see BM making the runs beyond and it was a great ball in for the first goal!

It was very pleasing to see these four playing of Smith, Moloney, Diamond, Buchanan. Add Zak back into that and that is a very solid and competent back unit for us!

Shows how far we have come, our second choice back 4 better than our back four from 3 or 4 years ago.

Phillips...Nyatanga...McDonald...Hanley

Positive stuff!!!!

Moloney hands down.

As cover for Moloney Phillips has done well and not let anybody down; even Man04.

Both are needed equally and picked on good form.

Agreed - different attributes but neither worry me in that position - BM just edges it for me but Phillips a massive improvement from the not very confident pre-season start.

I like Zander a lot, but I'd quite like to see how a Nyatanga/Zakuani partnership would fare.

P.S.
Moloney all day, though Phillips did well against WBA afterwards.

Moloney by a country mile, having said that Philips hasn't let anybody down either.

So we all agree - good back 4, with options - goalkeeper not too shabby either!

Moloney definitely, he really was a key component on Tuesday evening. Harsh on Phillips but Brendan is the better option
