The initial tweet has been deterred almost 30 times now so the message is getting across. Would be great if the club retweeted it.

Not sure if deterred is the right word you were looking for there.

not sure if getting a potential new supporter stuck in the traffic when the saints are at home the same day is a good way of making them think it's something they want to repeat every fortnight

doesn't seem to affect the saint's attendances.

& to be honest, if you don't expect there to be queues when leaving an event at the same time as potentially 6000 other people then perhaps leaving the house alone isn't for you?

6000 isn't the issue, it's the 20000 and the crazy management systems that might put off a first time visitor.

I think it's best to just ignore the negative detractors, they will always find a fault but never a solution. Would be great to have a crowd over 7500 for the Southend game #SellOutSixfields

the solution would be to pick a game without 3 times the usual amount of traffic about - those of us that are used to it don't think it's an issue - a "newbie" might be put off. In principle it's a great idea, just think it's the wrong date

So what happens when they think "yeah, didn't mind that. Think I'll go again" do they get a fixture list specially printed with some games coming with the advisory "this one probably isn't for you"?

They're more likely to go again if their first experience doesn't involve chaos. It only happens on rare occasions, so why pick a day that MIGHT be off putting?

I picked this game as

A) It's the nearest one to Man Utd game so those disappointed to not get tickets only have a few more days to wait
B) It's not one of the Man Utd package games, which will hopefully be busier anyway
C) It's on the back of us being on TV twice, good chance to get some floating fans who might be attracted to see us play, so ideal to make it as full as possible with a better atmosphere.
D) I doubt Southend would take any tickets in the East Stand, so ideal for us to maximise the space

you don't need to explain your reasoning on the basis of one bloke being an idiot.

your idea makes sense, so go with it, if it doesn't work at least you tried.

you never know, the ground might be full, and it might be a cracker and they all might want to come again irrespective of possible traffic issues.

Great news, the club have retweeted it now, so things are looking very promising for 50+ retweets by the end of the day. Hopefully all those if favour will prod their mates/family into coming along to a game.

I spoke to a few people who occasionally go about this post and they have all since purchased tickets. So that's an additional 4. Good work Cobbler78, anything like this is positive for the club so keep at it.

Now the Man Utd kaffuffel is done, we need to push this #SellOutSixfields event. A week today, would be great to have a full house to reward Kelvin for not putting up ticket prices. So bring a friend or two spread the word. All those moaning about not getting a Man Utd ticket persuade them to buy a ticket for Southend next week.

Just to get this straight- you're doing this to thank Kelvin Thomas for not doubling the ticket price for the Manchester United game? Why are we thanking the owner for doing what most owners would do- treating the fans with a bit of respect?

What about Kelvin Thomas increasing the match-day ticket price for disabled supporters? Are we supposed to sell out Sixfields to thank him for not increasing the disabled supporters' ticket prices even more than he already has?

It's a nice idea but we should be selling out Sixfields because we want to support the team, not to thank the owner for no reason.

Everyone's ticket prices increased this season, we are in a higher league with a higher wage bill. Are you saying disabled supporters tickets should have remained the same?

The sentiment stays the same, for whatever your reason, would be excellent to sellout Sixfields for the league game vs Southend. Helps the team having additional support, more money banked for January squad strengthening, more companies wanting to advertise with bigger crowds, more programmes, food and drink sold etc etc.

I always think it makes the club look a bit tinpot when you call it #Selloutsixfields and it doesn't sell out But will assist on twitter and attend none the less.

The club have retweeted the #SellOutSixfields that will help. Would be great to get Radio Northampton and the online local media involved also. At the end of the day even if 1000 extra people attend that's another £20k for the club, and it's always better going to a game with a decent attendance.

Nice idea mate, but maybe fighting a lost cause... one man tweeting with a few retweets aint gonna 'SellOutSixfields' - Sorry to be a killjoy, but regardless of freezing prices for league cup game regardless aint gonna add 2,000 onto our usual saturday attendance. I am sure we will have our usual 4,500-6,000 depending on how well southend travel.

I will be there regardless like I am every saturday, but good luck!
