Nothing stopping him getting a job in Tescos
Dave Savage can be found, currently working at B&Q Towcester Road. About ten years ago, Kevin Wilson worked at a roofing company (Russell Roofing?) on Letts Road. As a yard man. My point is, that you take whatever work you can, to keep the money coming in, and satisfy your creditors. I, and Im sure many others on here. have also had to do so. The only difference is, as a current footballer, Mr Cox, will have to keep himself very fit in the meantime. As such, then I would suggest that he would make an excellent, speedy, "Tin Stacker".

This thread is dead. He ain't ever gonna sign for us and was playing us for a nice big pay off from Orient...
Pompey & MK also interested but he's instigating a move to the lovely Crawley as he won't have to up sticks.
We move on...
Former Leyton Orient striker Dean Cox is not keen on a move to MK Dons in January, and would prefer to sign for Crawley Town.
The 29-year-old was released by the O’s last week but as it was after the 11pm transfer deadline he can only join a National League club for the next few months.
Whitehawk have already made a move for the attacker, while his reasoning for not necessarily want a move to Milton Keynes is based on location rather than the team.
But before Cox decides his immediate future he wants to sort out his long-term one, listing the Dons, as well as Crawley and Portsmouth as sides interested.
He told the Crawley News: “I was hoping we could have got things sorted before the 11pm deadline [on August 31] and then I could have gone to a Football League club.
“There were delays though and that wasn’t possible.
“I didn’t want to leave but it had been made clear to me I wasn’t in the first team plans at Orient, so even once the deadline had passed it seemed better to go somewhere else and play, even if meant a spell outside the Football League.
“I want to sort the Football League club first and I’ve had a call from Whitehawk, so we’ll see.
“I’m really interested in signing for Crawley and we have had initial talks and it’s on-going. We’re in talks and I hope we can come to an agreement over the financial side of it within the next week.
“I had contact from Portsmouth and MK Dons as well but I would probably prefer Crawley at the moment because they are closest on the map, though Portsmouth isn’t that far.
“I know a fair bit about Crawley as well and Jimmy Smith is a good friend of mine. I saw them play at the end of last season and I know Dermot likes them to play it out from the back. That suits me; I’m 5ft 5ins so I don’t like too many balls played in the air!”

V.similar to Matt Taylor and to some extent Nicky Adams: could have played higher but chose location over anything else.
Just a shame we seem to have wasted so much time on him when we could have pursued other targets. The Barnet winger Luke Gambin has always impressed me. He's now a maltese international and would command a fee but that is the kind of player with potential we should be investing in IMO.

I think Taylor might be slightly different as I imagine he's done alright from the game so is likely just playing for fun now, like our last Taylor. Adams, well it's his career.

What Jason Taylor, or do you mean Ian Taylor (ex Aston Villa) signed by Colin Calderwood? Just Checking.

I don't see that. He wasn't in Orient's plans despite still having a contract and didn't want to languish in the reserves - if they have one. Perhaps he would rather play non-league football than practically none at all.

Cox has a reputation as a very talented player and - at 29 - should have a few years left in the tank. However, there must be more to this story than meets the eye... There is something very odd about a player who is happy to join a mediocre club (Crawley) simply because he lives near there. Surely if you are ambitious you move? MK Dons would have offered him a far bigger salary than Crawley. So neither money, nor ambition interest him greatly, it seems. Perhaps he plays for the love of the game? Yet he was willing to go several months without playing. You are a long time retired as a footballer. I would have thought that these are precious months wasted. It also seems very odd that Orient didn't want him anymore. The fans clearly idolise him... The truth must be out there somewhere.
