Yes I think I'm going, yes Gillingham is a dump, but a little bit of imagination in the journey and one could have pre match in Chatham or even London. Tenner IS a bargain but it could be pretty rank if the weather doesn't play ball. Still nice thick rainproof coat and the trusty hat 😊

The overriding memory I have about Priestfield is that its always bloody cold!! I think Gillingham has its own micro-climate. True too that the surrounding area is a dump, oh and the floodlights go out every now and then

I think you'll find that it rains a lot less than it does in Northampton, it just rains a lot when we play them, plus you notice it - remember the Nicholls howler night?

Have I missed something here? Are the covered seats all in the home stand? That scaffold stand is the worst in this division.

Gillingham is indeed awful, I remember arriving back in Wellingborough for the first time after being down there and thinking it wasn't all that bad after all!
Gills can still be a good day out though. Stop in London if going by train, or stop in nearby Rochester if you're going on the coach or by car. Lovely little place, especially the High Street.

Adults, £10. Seniors, £5. Under 18, £5. Wheelchair & Helper - price relevant to age band. Neanderthals, 3 animal skins.
Why 3 skins and not 4?

Because 4 skins would be too small.

Indeed. A stop in Rochester, before the 6 minutes train journey into Gills!

Having lived near that s***ehole for Uni for 3 years I can say for sure Rochester is the place to go. £2.80 return on the train from Gillingham, takes a couple of minutes and it's like a different world! Few lovely pubs near the castle and cathedral that are worth a visit, and the obligatory Spoons plonked on the high street (Golden Lion if anyone is wondering). Could easily have a belting pub crawl down there. Which is lucky, because I'm down for the weekend visiting some old haunts!
If the Cobblers win, I'll be in Casino Rooms. I'm pretty sure Fez will have been in there at some point down the years too!

Ah good old C@sino Rooms. Buy one get TWO drinks free - numbed the pain of having to get a taxi back to Gillingham. The car park outside after closing time was a sight to behold as well Gutted I'll be missing it this year actually, not been down there since University myself.

Just looked at some stats. Gillingham has more rainfall than Northampton in every month except May, June, July and August. There's not that much in it though, on the whole.

I've always found Gillingham to be a quaint and pleasant town whenever I pass through on my drive from Bristol to Bournemouth.

Go on Artie, we haven't had a good weather thread for years. Is Gillingham really the coldest place on the planet or is it Hartlepool?

So basically the whole of the summer is wetter in Northampton.

We need to get back to another 10 year winning run at Priestfields like Sept 1998 to Jan 2008 (only 4 games though).

Northampton is colder at night on average than both places.

So basically the whole of the summer is wetter in Northampton.
And the football season is played mainly not in the summer. The extra Northampton summer precipitation comes mainly in the form of heavy/thundery showers.
