Very poor standard from both teams - reminded me of the much better football we have played under JB and the team - Watching Brackley and Boston very similar to watching us under Curle or Bothroyd - get rid of the ball immediately and pump it up field - awful stuff!

Just been watching the South final between Worthing and Braintree Town which Braintree won 4 - 3 in extra time. It was a much better game than the Brackley one, but whether Braintree can stay in the National League is another matter as last time they were there they lasted one season.
Worthing had a guy Ollie Pierce who has scored 40 odd goals this season and duly scored in this game as well and laid on the other two goals. Worth a punt? I don't know but this is the level Langstaff was playing at when Notts County signed him and he's done ok.
We also welcomed Andy Woodman's Bromley into the football league yesterday with a win on penalties against Solihull Moors. The two Bromley goals were scored by Michael Cheek who has scored over 20 and is regularly the top scorer for them. I have mentioned him before - someone will take him before long. I think Bromley will struggle next season unless they have investment in the team - their average home gate is 1470 so that will need to improve although they will get more away fans next season. Anyway good luck Andy even though I wanted Solihull to win.
Also welcome back to this site - where have you been all day.

I'm afraid they weren't unlucky, they were just poor. I would love another Northants team in the league and at the moment Brackley are our best hope, so I hope they can get it together next year, if they make the final. Better still - go straight up.

Another season, another go for promotion for our County neighbours.
They currently sit third on 71 points with eight games to go, four points behind leaders Scunny with a game in hand. After they'd been on a decent run The Saints suffered a 1-0 home loss to Buxton last weekend which looked like it could derail their ambitions. However Sc***horpe fell to a 1-0 defeat at Kidderminster in midweek so its as you were. The Iron face Chester this weekend in the battle of the top two, Brackley will be looking to bounce back at Radcliffe Borough before they host Kidderminster next week. Kiddy are only a point behind Brackley in 5th.

A sixth-tier record crowd of 8,274 saw Scunny beat Chester 3-1 on Saturday to maintain their lead at the top. Brackley move back into second after their 2-1 win at Radcliffe and Kiddy go third after a 4-1 win over Needham Market.

Looking at the league table Kidderminster look a better bet for promotion,
Kidderminster goals scored 70, conceded 32, goal difference 38 Brackley 62 40 22
And within 5 minutes Kidderminster are 1-0 up.

7 wins in 8, the other game drawn and 1-0 wins over both Scunny and now Brackley have put Phil Browns Harriers in a good position, they have a favourable run in too.
1,777 was the crowd at Brackley tonight.

Got to be them! I can't remember another team either league or non-league with such a record. They have finished 2nd, 3rd or 4th in each of the last seven seasons. One season was declared null and void due to Covid but they have participated in the playoffs for each of the other six seasons, three times losing in the final, twice the semi final and the other the quarter final. Ipswich and Derby have both competed in the Championship play offs eight times although that was over a large number of years, Leicester made the playoff finals four years in five in the late 90's and more recently Exeter lost three League 2 finals in the space of four years.

Lincoln made the league two playoffs, and lost 5 years in a row in the 2000s

Four games to go and the top three are separated by a single point after Scunny lost on Saturday and Kidderminster scraped a draw.
Brackley still have the bottom two already relegated teams to play in Warrington and Farsley Celtic, along with a trip to mid-table Leamington and an Easter clash with local opposition in Oxford City.
Scunny, top by a point host Trophy finalists Spennymoor, have games against play off chasing Hereford and Kings Lynn with a game against Peterborough Sports as well.
Kidderminster also have Hereford to play as well as 5th placed Curzon Ashton, alongside Rushall Olympic and a tough final day assignment at Southport.

All on the last game then....
Kidderminster lead the way on 89 points with a +50 goal difference. They travel to Southport on the last day. Brackley are also on 89 points but their goal difference is only +28, they host bottom side Farsley Celtic. Scunny are on 87 points with a +45 goal difference..... so need to beat Hereford at Edgar Street and hope neither Brackley or Kiddy win.
