Bolton were better first half and we were second half. They bossed the midfield and their Grace Jones lookalike player was feeding the wings causing us problems. Second half we bossed it. We kept swinging the ball in but they defended well.
A draw would have been a fair result IMO

For goodness sake Doc we are NOT going down you heard it here 1st (I damn well hope that does not come back to haunt me)

I read a little of a Bolton forum. One of them said about us.... "They were the best team, footballing wise, that we've played this season."
Oxford Utd (we took 700 to Scunny but actually it was 450) will be in meltdown reading that!

To be fair its only recently that fans have turned on the team / page, its hardly the form to make fans purr is it. Of course fans will be negative after a run of poor results, same as full of praise for a run of good results . i dont even know why that needs explaining
Too true; it needed to be said though. Too many just ignore the obvious. Common sense needs to be shared more often on here.

How did this tackle on John Joe not result in a booking?

For what its worth i thought Bolton were far better than us first half.Second half the opposite with us dominating and deserving of a draw. Whilst driving home I could not believe Mr Page's assesment of the first half but what do i know. I still think we play one up front at home but apparently its a 433.

I dont understand why he insists on calling it a 4-3-3 either. Most of the time it is a 4-5-----1

Driving home I was disappointed but still relatively upbeat because of the shift we put in second half, I must admit his assessment took the edge off any optimism. Blind to the facts, or at least unwilling to state them publicly.

I agree that it is a 4-5-1 and that's one of the reasons I am far from impressed with Page. Until or unless we get some pace into the team it will always be a defensive formation. In regard to the other point made about McCourt and JJOT, they are far to similar to have both in the same line up.

You mean some fans have ; not all turned against Page. Out of those who have criticized him only a handful got abusive; thanks for the explanation tho' . I was very disappointed to see that a supporter of your ilk has jumped on the anti Team/Page bandwagon.

Yep and I'd agree. We had two very good chances, they had one and scored, that was the difference. The second half then shows just how dominant we were then. We deserved to win..................but we didn't. Onto the next one, all things being equal if we continue playing like that we will finish top half. If you look at this, it shows the league position based on expected goals for and against so far this season, will be interesting to see how close this ends up to the actual league table come the end of the season. https://experimental361.com/2016/11/27/e-ratings-update-league-1-26-nov-2016/

But like me he wasn't at the game. Harper and Page were and disagreed. That's why I asked the question in the first place... Most people who saw the first half with their own eyes and who have offered comment on this and the matchday thread have decided that Bolton had the better of it. I don't understand why there are people who prefer to put credence in the opinion of some bloke who wasn't there and his computer programme. Also, what I'd like to know is what this bloke means by 'sporadic analysis and visualizations with a football league bias'...?

Oh yes he is... Are we still on "history"? I thought that was period one. It's gone 10.30am, surely we've moved on to period two, and A level philosophy. Oh sorry, I see that we have.........
Incidentally, Carlisle will inevitably let you down.........on the pitch. We didn't want him back at Turf Moor. We thought we'd finally got rid of him to Deepdale, when we pulled a fast one getting him to go there on 12 months loan. "Famous-has-been-player-goes-home-to-play-for-home-town-team-as-his-career-drifts-off-into-the-sunset-etc".....we thought, as we s******ed and sighed. PNE were contracted to buy him after the year was up. Then the dopey so-and-so got another driving ban, those dopeyarses at Deepdale got a new chairman+manager, their team started to ship goals right through the middle of their defence, and they finally wised-up to the cause of it (CC). So they tore up the agreement to buy him, and bumped him off to you lot. Sorry but you will continue to regret it.
