I'd play young Joe up front for this one...see if he can cut it against a top team...
Let's be honest, no one is expecting us to win this, so give the kid a full 90 minutes and see what he's got.

Why would I give the game a miss? Just a realistic supporter, who has been watching a team shot of confidence get outplayed the last few games & who are now coming up against a team who has been bang on it from the off... Be great if we can win/draw this game but I'm a realist...hence give young Joe a chance or shall we just stick to the tried and tested prolific partnership of Rico n Revs?

One of the best performances ive seen this season was at Scvnthorpe, with 10 men after Taylor was sent off

I'll second that. Sc***horpe are such a beatable team... they had nothing special when we played them away so I say go for it. Their goal was a bit of brilliance from that Josh Morris, but other than that, nothing. We need to take the game to them and press from the beginning, none of this sitting back and "playing for a draw" like they did in the second half against Blades.

Well they were pasted 4-1 by Oxford last night in the check a tinpot troph, So we should go for it.
I dont want to bursts anyone's bubble , but this Joe kid will probably be playing for Brackley in a year's time. Why would a kid who has hardly pulled up trees in a s*** level of youth football do any better than the 18 year old that have done well in the pl2 or premium level of u18s that every one balks at as not being ready for league football ?

I'm all for giving Joe a chance and I would love to see him succeed as our youth products make me smile even years after they have left , but people need to realise he is highly unlikely to be the Messiah.
Even if he is good enough , throwing him under the bus against one of the leagues top teams would be irresponsible and could destroy his confidence.

That's not my point, I find it strange that people think he will be more ready for first team football than any of the loans that get laughed at. Throwing him in now could ruin him , he needs to be eased in.

Ivan Toney was thrown into a relegation scrap at the same age, Joey has 20 goals before xmas, we are not scoring, if he fails pull him out again.

I did think of how Toney was introduced just before my last post, Fair enough, I still think Sc***horpe would be the wrong time though.

I would like to see him given more of an opportunity than he has seen so far but maybe not 90 mins just yet. Give him 20 - 30 mins something like that, if he does well then great. I think he would be much better off against a tiring defender late on than a seasoned pro who might 'welcome' him to the professional game in the first few minutes.

All thanks to Sinclair forgetting he was able to head a ball against Pompey.

The difference being that we are paying for these loans to come in from top clubs, where you would expect them to be of a certain quality. The problem is that most of them have only been playing U18 or U23 football if any at all, and it is pot luck if they will be any good. Kenji Gorre is a good example of this, highly rated but just couldn't produce when at our level. Cost us a pretty penny too I should imagine to get him here. Joe Iaciofano is a youth prospect of our own, who we already have on our books and is in form. What have we got to lose? What is the point of have a youth team if we do not give them the route to progress?

Toney was clearly up for 1st team football. He was and still is a strongly built player. I get the impression that Joe has not exactly been tearing up tree's in the youth team and suspect that this has been the main factor in delaying his progress to the 1st team. Generally if they are good enough they will get their chance. CW thought that Toney was ready to be thrown into a relegation battle 2/3 games before end of season. Page deemed it that Joe was not good enough yet.

I agree with this, Evers, but I'd still be inclined to give him 20/25 minutes on Saturday (so long as we have not been buried by then). We won't know how good he can be until we give him a chance to shine. He may melt under the pressure of 'proper' football, but if he doesn't...

Toney was very lightweight when he came in , many said he needs to bulk up. How many more than 20 goals before xmas do you, class as pulling up trees. I dont agree he should start but 2 mins of injury time is not long to show what he can do.

You know I dont ; but he does get a few right. Clearly Page did not think Joe was ready for 1st team. I suspect in this case he may have been right.
