If he was as good as you are saying he would be in Newcastle first team instead being loan out to lowly league sides I didn't want him to come back
So you're saying that if he isn't an ever present in the side topping the Championship then you don't want him?

I wouldn't boo Toney for choosing to play for another team.  It's a little infantile. I won't boo McCourt on or off the pitch. I would however send him out on loan to a team with a strict disciplinarian coach. The lad has ability and fight but needs to knuckle down in a boot camp for a few weeks to put him in the right mindset whilst also playing full games to get himself up to the pace required.

I m not a believer in going back to former clubs although Marc Richards has been Okish since coming back but hasn't set the world alight so it doesn't work

Booing of your own players is IMO a disgrace - it is also moronic as it cannot possibly have a positive effect, particularly when a player is going through a bad spell like McCourt is.

Booing Toney was disgraceful. He'd score a hatful of goals had he come to us but when he made his decision we were in free-fall witbout a manager.

Booing your own players is, always, totally pointless and counter-productive. What do the boo-boys who do this think they are achieving?

In the case of McCourt (if he was booed) it is not going to improve his performance. OK he is a new signing who is probably not going to change the world (just like nearly all the others) but will booing improve his play? No doubt he is aware that his performances are not quite working out: I don't suppose he needs reminding of the fact.

Ivan Toney is, of course, not our player now. But he was a good one who may have saved our place in the Football League. He left to advance his career, which may not have fully worked out but that is life. As for him coming back on loan he may be aware of the old adage "Never go back".

From my observations I would say that when Toney came on the majority did nothing, but the remainder were split about 50/50 between those who clapped and those who booed. Not a good comment on the mentality of Cobblers fans.

From where I was in the West towards the North stand I heard a few boos when Toney came on but these were rapidly eclipsed by applause. As for McCourt there were a few protest boos when Boateng was taken off. Much ado about nothing - its a football crowd and things are not going well; what do you expect Psalm 23 Roll Eyes

I fully understand why he'd choose Sc***horpe over us for a loan spell

You've got to think that he had never been to Sc unthorpe, I know he's from the Eastern district but still !!!    Some one described Sc unthorpe as "Corby but without the charm"  Grin

Personally i don't have an issue with booing former players and why would you. If Toney had scored the winner would he have been clapped and cheered off the pitch  Huh?....

Some need to get a grip.

He is there to play football, not enjoy the touristy bits of east Lincolnshire...he could go to Skeggy for that.

Shocked, bit harsh Roger, didn't we enjoy their clubhouse after the game a few weeks back. Never been into the town centre though, so might have to bow to your better knowledge of the place...

People giving Toney stick for not coming back are absolute idiots.

Why would he come back to a club that has NO manager, a group of players who are lacking morale AND fitness? He's just spent the first half of the season struggling at the bottom of the league with Shrewsbury. He left there the top goal scorer and also created a hat full of goals.

He had the option to go to a club who are in the top 2... Best attack in the league... Do the math!

There is no doubt that Toney loves the club. I've spotted him 2/3 times at Sixfields this season. He's thinking about his career, not us.

Never booed a returning player but can't see why people shouldn't be able to.
