It is true , most of the goals recently have come down the left side and other teams exploit this .
It is unfair to completely blame Buchanan , just as it has been unfair to over criticise the centre halves because the shielding in front of them is appalling .
We haven't had a quality LHS midfielder all season and Boateng is not suited to that position . The option is Taylor who refuses to tackle . Consequently Buchanan gets exposed , although admittedly he has been poor of late himself .
It's the same in the middle . As long as Taylor gets selected as the holding player we will lose more than we win. JJOT has to partner Boateng in the middle and I'm going to keep on repeating myself ad infinitum until it happens .

Taylor made tackles on Sat ; I counted at least 4, one of which in our area was outstanding.
Our goal came from his corner. I like Taylor he is a class act one of our few players who has this accolade.

You are going to be busy ! My gut feeling is that you have another alias on here?
Regarding rehab even well meant patronisation grates a bit Cool

Nope, no other alias for me, i dont see the point. I find it childish and it think it says a lot about a person if they feel the need to use multiple accounts.

You counted 4 tackles in a game for a holding midfielder ?
It should be at least 3 times that .
No one is questioning his dead ball delivery , it's his overall game , particularly at the base of the diamond .

There's only a single midfielder in the Premier League averaging 4+ tackles per game (Coquelin).  Players like Ngolo Kante average 3.5 tackles per game as an example.

On that basis, your claim that Matt Taylor (basically a winger masquerading as a central midfielder) should be averaging 12+ is a bit ambitious.

Yeah,  but Chelsea probably keep the ball a bit better than us.

Valid excuse for Chelsea in isolation but that includes all clubs.

It depends what you call a tackle and also what the contributor on here qualified as a tackle .
At the end of the day , Taylor is not a ball winner and shouldn't be playing in the holding role .
That's my point , regardless of what stats are thrown about to confuse the matter

Do I detect a slight movement of goal posts?

I'd say given his experience (and age) Taylor should be able to make interceptions rather than tackles. A good holding midfielder should be making more interceptions than tackles. Tackles are necessary of course but are a last resort...

No moving of goal posts ... IF ......Taylor made 4 tackles on Saturday he has quadrupled his tally for the season....
You are clearly stating that you think Taylor is a good holding midfield player then ??
The point I am making is that he is not . JJOT should be in that position .

He did make one excellent sliding interception in the penalty area on Saturday when we were in trouble,  1st half,  I think.  But I suppose he should have done that earlier in the move according to your logic?

Just as well you stuck a couple of ? as I did not say or even insinuated that Taylor is a good holding player - he isn't and possibly JJOT will do a better job.  As far as I can remember it was all about tackles which the great man made. So naughty naughty you for craftily switching to his"best position theme" as opposed to tackles made.

As with my Mrs , there comes a point when I can't be asked to reply , carry on watching TV ,and let her have the triumphant last word on a matter that I can't remember the point of in the first place
