As (to most people anyway-more after this) an out gay man, I was wondering if there were any other Lesbian or gay followers of the Cobblers?
Of course I realise this is a very personal thing and up the individual whether they want it known on this board. But I would be interested.
I'm also not saying we should rent a church basement and have secret meetings either, but I could suggest maybe some connection in the future, the odd pre or post match get together maybe.
Be nice to realise I am not alone ( I'm sure I'm not).

I applaud you on this post. I'm not LGBT, but have nothing but respect for those that are and its a shame that in this day and age there are people who feel they cannot be open about this. Not sure how many responses you'll get, but only because I've genuinely no idea how many people who are LGBT are Cobblers fans, but even if they don't respond on thus thread, there is the option to send you a private message which may be more 'doable' for some. Not sure if you're a member of any LGBT forums or similar, might be worth a mention on there for those that are local and interested in football and fancy meeting up with other likeminded folk......recruiting new fans is ALWAYS a plus

There are plenty of forums out there which you can join and enlist fellow like minded people/supporters. If you are keen to create a sub committee on a forum there is nothing to stop you - where's there a way .......

Whats wrong with this one? Do you think all LGBT people are like minded? I am not gay and as far as I know nor are you but we certainly are not like minded are we? You certainly may not have meant it but your message does come across as a friendly "do your gay discussions someplace else".

What happened to trotty, James Baker, he was openly gay although ive not seen him for quite some time. and of course legendary Cobbler, Rob Marshall, is now openly transgender,Deborah i believe.

In an ideal world this thread would never exist - but clearly we are not in an ideal world: as exhibited recently by the collection of CofE bishops with their anti-LGBT pronouncements. Nonetheless I feel that setting-up some sort of LGBT Cobblers' group plays into the hands of prejudiced and dangerous people; we ALL are part of the Cobblers' family irrespective of race, religion, or sexual orientation. On the other hand I appreciate that if you are part of a group of specific people experiencing prejudice then it may be necessary to unite in some way to fight injustice - therein lies the complication. A part-solution lies in accurate and hard-hitting publicity to expose the perpetrators of prejudice.

As i said earlier Steve it's not about setting up a support group or supporters group.
It's just saying hey you're not alone.
Trouble is with LGBT+ issues people who mean well often trip up over terminology etc.
then there's the homophobes who frankly are as past help as racsist people.

Quite so - and airing it on here is a good idea. It's amazing how many people think you can choose your sexual orientation, whereas Mother Nature has largely programmed us to be what we are. I do think there's too much pressure on youngsters to have to declare their sexuality especially while in their teens, because they just need leaving alone to explore their own existence and it'll all sort out eventually. The last thing you want is people consumed by worry when there's a life to be lived.
