2004/2005 18 (14 League, 4 Cup)
2005/2006 24 (17 League, 7 Cup)
2006/2007 13 (12 League, 1 Cup)
2008/2009 2 (1 League, 1 Cup)

So I have it as 44 League and 13 Cup.

So I assume it was Frank Large who took over the mantle when we continued to smash teams in 62/63. I think it's all coming back to me now. Who was it scored yesterday?  Roll Eyes

Your forgetting Don Martin , Peter Kane, the Welsh International Ken Leek , Alec Ashworth and possibly Derek Leck who weighed in with a few.

This was bugging me as online sources all said the same as yourself so I have done a bit of digging and I had McGleish as scoring 2 at Swansea in August 2004 but one of these has been officially recorded as a Sam Ricketts OG! I was at that game as well!

Will amend my records Wink

Thanks for highlighting the mistake  Cool

Thats the problem with own goals and if it was on target or not. This year two exact situations with Revell v Fleetwood and Anderson v Shrewsbury. Both off the post into the back of the keeper. One has gone down as an O.G and the other to Anderson, People who should be doing there jobs. Im not sure who makes it official, but the Fa goal panel clearly don't care about the football league to warrent taking notice, as they should have the final word.

Updated with appearances and era added. I also missed a few goals from some players when counting up earlier so have corrected that. Not saying this is 100% accurate but will be pretty close. Also following above question it is a list for all competitions, couldn't be bothered to separate it into league and cup!

                                  Goals     Apps        Era

1    Jack English            143         321        1947-1959
2    Eddie Bowen           120         172        1927-1931
3    William Lockett       110         282        1920-1925
4    Frank Large             96          250       1962-1963/1966-1967/1969-1972
5    Bert Dawes             94          182        1929-1933
6    Albert Lewis            90          179        1908-1913
7    Tommy Fowler         88          552        1946-1961 Record Appearance Maker
8=  Ralph Hoten            84          213        1924-1929
8=  Tommy Wells          84          316         1926-1934
10   Don Martin             82          252         1962-1967/1975-1977
11   Fred Lessons          79          249         1907-1915
12   George Whitworth   76          128         1914-1922
13   Adebayo Akinfenwa 74          188         2008-2013
14   Edwin Freeman       73          363         1905-1920
15   Harry King             70          105         1911-1914
16   Alan Woan              69         123         1956-1959
17   Ian Benjamin          68          180         1984-1987
18   John Fairbrother      62          164         1967-1971
19   Paul Stratford         61          188         1972-1977
20   Marc Richards         60          172         2003-2005/2014-
Between Eddie Bowen and Harry King then?
Here's one for the stattos, are there any players who are on a goal a games ratio albeit for much less games?
There must be some loanees who scored in every game etc.

We must have scored a few pre The Great War with Albert Lewis, Fred Lessons and Harry King being up there over a similar period...

it's a bit sad that no one has managed a century in 60 odd years.

I had this thought also. I guess the nature of lower league, is a striker scoring consistently will always tend to move up the leagues.

Didn't realise bayo had scored so many goals. Amazing how good he was yet he was let go so easily twice.

That's a fantastic record especially when you realise he didn't play in too many decent teams when here.

Few on here didn't agree - lots of criticism when he came back 2nd time.

It's an interesting set of stats. For me the most stunning while on-song for a particular concentrated period of his career was Cliff Holton. Overall stats can't show the particular 'purple periods' of each player.

Cliff Holton was a prolific scorer through out his career with 297 goals in 573 appearances, including 83 in 198 for Arsenal, 84 in 120 for Watford, 40 in 101 for Palace and 17 in 47 games for Orient.

I think Martin came later, Leek was much earlier, Leck didn't score as many when he converted to wing half (but boy was he a much better player there than as a centre forward). Alec Ashworth probably continued to get a few though after Holton left. Frank Large also started his goal scoring with us I think in 63.

Richard Hill must have been close to the top 20. A decent return for a midfielder whose goals to games ratio must have been pretty good too.

I reckon Steve Massey was very close to one in every two games for one season?
