I’m as guilty as anyone of getting far too carried away but if we beat Walsall on Saturday there is an outside possibility that we could be out of the relegation zone for the final game - who would have said that a few weeks ago!

I predict that all 4 teams (us, Walsall, Oldham and Rochdale) will be on 49 points going in to the last game. Ideally though, Walsall and/or Rochdale will pick up no more points to leave it completely in our own hands - hate waiting and watching the other scores come in...

And Wimbledon will likely by on 50 points so it really is all to play for.

I reckon Wimbledon will get something against Doncaster, but even a draw will still make it interesting and adds another team to keep an eye on. All this excitement and we'll probably now get battered by Walsall...

Marquis is a Cobbler. Put your money on him scoring a hattrick.

ANYTHING can happen this time of the season, strange results will occur all over the place like WBA winning at Old Trafford. Always the same!
Where we have been very lucky though is that all the teams just above us have been failing more than you would expect from the law of averages.
Rochdale on Saturday conceding in injury time was potentially massive for us, otherwise they'd be pretty much out of reach by now.
In summary. On Saturday we need:
* to win ourselves * Rochdale to get beat by Oxford (who should be up for it given they are still not mathematically safe)
That will mean next Tuesdays fixtures are irrelevant and we can relax for a week before beating Oldham!
If Rochdale win or draw then we need from next Tuesday:
* Walsall to lose at Bradford
Otherwise we will need a favour somewhere next Saturday as well as a win ourselves!

How anyone dare even to attempt to second guess a result beats me. Last night results prove that.

Panic and pressure will play a part here . There will be something unusual happen that no one predicts . Of course , it could be us that suffers and we get turned over , but it’s just as likely to be Walsall , Rochdale or Oldham . Everyone has to win each game and so no one will be playing safe

Yes but two losses to Wigan and Doncaster and they will be reeling. They've got the easiest game of the lot at home to Bury but you never know...

It's the hope that kills you. We looked dead and buried after Boro and even more so after Blackpool. I never even considered we'd have a sniff of safety. Now all the talk is "just" win the next two and we'll be fine. We've given ourselves an unbelievably good chance of doing this, but it could also all be over at 5pm Satdee if the worst results all occur. It's a fine balance. One mistake, one refereeing decision, one piece of magic from their Turkish Messi and it could all be over. If that does happen we need to not be too despondent. I can't predict it. I'll be at Walsall hoping its a game that has legendary status for us in part of the great escape 2018.

I bet you thought that about Bury too! Unlike you to be so upbeat

Walsall & AFC Wimbledon safe after tonight's results.
Between Rochdale & Oldham who join us in League 2.
52 points would have been enough....oh well.

Sadly - I can still see us going down by GD - I just hope the angry brigade (who never actually have to make a decision) don’t use that to repeat their comments against DA at Walsall- he tried something and in hindsight it was wrong but hey with hindsight we would all be rich geniuses.....

I was annoyed at DA during and after the Walsall game but, while I don't agree with his decisions, I fully understand why he went for it. No recrimination from me if we go down on goal difference. If we'd have got the draw last week there is nothing to say that wouldn't have affected other attitudes for the final games leading to different results.
I'd much rather have a manager that goes for it. He did it twice, Bury and Walsall and we got 3 points. Our previous 3 managers would have probably not rolled the dice and we would have had a maximum of 2 points from those games, maybe less as it is likely we would have folded in one of them.
