I agree with you CJ - my immediate thoughts on the substitutions was of total surprise that both Long and vV were on; both out of form. Would have gone with just one of them probably Long. Agreed with Crooks being withdrawn as he had history with hamstring injuries. McWilliams substitution is hard to follow; JJOT was knackered and perhaps Foley seemed the natural replacement. Having weakened the midfield, DA then ordered Taylor up front. I appreciate DA's tactic dictum of must-win, but we hadn't scored and we were running on empty. At 80mins most of us, I suspect were settling for a draw.  To me, DA's judgment was flawed based on pulling on both Long and vV and then McWilliams with no Foley. I don't mind risks but this was OTT.

Oi, are you copying?

I'll be shielding my typing with my spare arm, if you carry on like this......

No! "IF" off......

(I was only trying to get a cheap joke, honest... No offence intended.....  Please don't hit me....)
If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
    And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Not so. If we had lost 2-1 at Oldham instead of 5-1 our goal difference now would have been -31 and Oldham's -20. So it would still need a 6-0 victory to overtake Oldham on goal difference.

Maths hey?! It's obvious now

The end!!! Bad luck to Oldham who went down with 50 points, and well done to Rochdale, who despite having all those games to play managed to get over the line. Bottom of the league and 12 points from safety at the beginning of March, 12 points behind us too........they only lost 3 of their last 16 games after they'd been knocked out of the Cup at Wembley by Spurs.

It an etherial, plasmatic way, I can embrace you all, because I love you all.

But, sadly, physically, my arms do not extend far enough to encircle the myriads of fellow Cobblers.

May I ask, do your underpants look like Beethoven?

MK are gone - they have appointed someone who has nice presentation & project management skills, but, who knows FA about real football.

Rochdale may just scrape through (Keith Hill is a real, real, Footballing Manager) - and, I've put my money on them surviving.  If not, then total respect for their positive footballing attitude.

Wimbledon are goners.  No football skills left in their weak team.

Bury have acquired the wrong players in the Jan window, so, they are down.  (Given the high profile signing of Hanson, you'd expect him to start.....  ?)

Last relegation spot?  Not us.....   although our goals scored & conceded over the course of the season may say otherwise.

Last relegation spot goes to Blackpool, who, despite my pre-season optimism for them being promotion challengers, have hit the wall in the last few weeks.

We may be lucky, and hit 18th come the end of the season.

Big love to all you Cobble-obblers out there in Internet world.....    xxxxx

Well, I got 3 of those prediction right.......Pity there was no pay-out...... apart from Rochdale.....

.....and, I can only applaud Rochdale for proving all their doubters wrong.  Especially given this heart-rending tale:

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44018335

As for us, we managed 9 points from our last 11 games.  But, 7 from our last 5.

They do not Overseas,
Unlike some, I've never been an admirer of Beethoven. My underpants will remain largely Claret, inspite of this seasons outcome.
Today I am stepping into a pair with JJ proudly embroided on them.
I didn't get where I am....  Grin

Not me - Shrewsbury against us have shown nasty gamesmanship - feigning injury and deliberate strategy to get players booked or sent off  - glad they lost!

So all the relegated teams went back up? How boring. Hopefully we can follow suit this time next year.

The teams that went down from League 1 last season fared differently!

Chesterfield went straight through the trap door into non-league status. Port Vale only survived the same fate by a single point. Swindon flirted with the playoffs but in the end fell 7 points short, and Coventry of course are contesting the playoff final today.

The gap between league 1 and the Championship is huge, the biggest in the country I'd say. Pundits always quote the gap to the Prem but the sides promoted to the Premier League all stayed up by 4 or more points.
